You also need driving license when doing a road trip in other countries. CNA is asking the wrong question. The question should be why these driving schools do not improve their system. This is one of the most inefficient part of living in Singapore.

That is a good point. Compared to any other public service (and driving licensing is a public service despite it being contracted to private companies), it is the worst by far in delivery. And why will it surprise anyone that it is happening - THERE IS NO INCENTIVE FOR ANY OF THE OPERATORS TO IMPROVE THE PROCESS BECAUSE IT WILL NOT BE A PROFIT MAXIMISING STRATEGY. Why spend more if they can never increase more lessons based on their limited centre size? LTA should seriously consider reviewing this area of concern.

Everyday, solid evidence on video is available showing lousy singapore drivers in action. Thousands every year. So, who taught them to drive? Cars that go through private estates mostly if other all will break driving rules. So there is almost no car driver in sg who does not break traffic rules

@@minglee8009 As I mentioned, Singpass is used only to verify the identity of individual users during the login process. If any of your personal information is required by the organisation, you will be prompted with a screen, asking for your consent. You will need to give your consent before your information will be shared. Implementing Singpass will require the organisation to meet stringent requirements. Private entities like Insurance companies and banks are few examples already using Singpass for authentication. Finally! But why would the school take action against them? I mean they still earn money as usual and there is no real benefit for them to spend money to tackle this issue. The government should step in and help to regulate this issue. Booking for a SSDC slot is crazy. You should try entering the website during the release time. The virtual queue can be up to 1 hours++ when you finally in, no slots left. You can only fight to book for counter slots which are also hard to get as well. SSDC had come out with more and more limitations to learner drivers such as limiting the number of lessons a student can take due to this issue. If I am not wrong learner can only book 8 slots per month via counter now. Who are the winners? The ones selling bot service and Driving school themselves. That's why Government should really step in to stop this issue.

I don’t condone the use of bots, but CNA has missed the plot in this issue. The fundamental cause of the problem is the severe lack of aggregate supply of practical lessons in the driving school system. The bots are just a symptom of normal demand and supply economics - there are people who are willing to pay more to get bots to get the lessons they want. If they finally achieve to stop all bots, which is unlikely, I am very sure there will be people who are willing to do nothing but scrape lessons for their customers as a full time job. If the government is sincere about solving this problem (and I don’t think they are because of their clear policy to steer the population to public transportation), just build another school to solve this, and if that is not enough, another one after that. Don’t distort the industry. The increasing frustration in not being able to drive or ride will backfire - it just makes more and more young people very unhappy. Learning to drive is just an aspirational goal in itself for many people, it does not mean they absolutely need to own a car.

I remember being on the receiving end of this back in 2020 and 2021 when I was learning driving. I had to book a slot on the CDC app 3 months later from the date of booking because of how the moment new slots opened up, they’d be booked in seconds. The worst offender was the simulator. All the good timings were constantly booked in seconds so I was stuck with the last slot. I even remember my driving instructor walking past me and he said he was shocked as it was already late and I was still at the school. Not like I had a choice since I can’t compete with a bots.

School are still taking in new registrations when they are having capacity issues. Driving school should balance supply and demand first and provide fees waiver to course extension and discounts if students are unable to secure booking slots in the next 14 days. Thanks for sharing the medium of bots, they don't seem cheap either. The school kind of entitled to juice more money from the students, where student are not able to get slots due to their high demand, besides membership extension fees, students have to spend more buying lessons as skills gets rusty if you take pauses in between lessons. The school can look into how many students from the public pool are able to clear their license without membership extensions. And the amount of breaks between lessons students are taking. They may consider updating the structure to their booking and membership.

No thanks. Those uncles anyhow teach people. No structure, they feel like teaching you what they just teach. Sometimes they don't even know what they taught you already. A lot of them treat females so nice and towards guys vulgarity non stop. Then they will purposely say you can go for TP already but actual fact you are not ready, because they want to earn your rental money for TP. I had very bad experiences with these uncles. Things like insulting and scolding you non stop even when you are not wrong, calling you names, stop halfway during lesson for smoke break, ask for advance lesson money during lesson when I said I don't have it now, force me to stop at ATM to withdraw, sleep during every lesson, deny I paid him in advance until i told him we stop during lesson at there to go ATM remember? outdated Theories BTT FTT they don't even know the new traffic rules, Don't even know what he taught me before, Anyhow come out with lesson when they feel like it. worst thing is he forced me to stop the lesson and kicked me out of his car halfway during lesson saying I spoil his gear when there is problems with his own car gear. Another instructor best he block the speedo meter, when I want to see my speed so that I can feel it next time he scolded me. you mad bro? If I don't even know the speed how to feel? If TP caught me over speed next time what should I say? Instructor don't allow me to see my speedo so I don't know i over speed limit? I went to SSDC manual, passed every modules and passed TP in 1 try.

The way they stop halfway to go toilet, go smoke bro we paid for the lesson and its only 1hr+. Late for lesson and ending lesson early that's just 1 bad experience and there are a lot more! I dont understand why cant they talk nicely and need to use vulgar in every sentence and scold you for everything you do even when you are not wrong. And see the difference between school and private? My instructor kicked me out of his car and call me useless and accuse me of spoiling his car when I cant change from gear 2 to 3 and I later found out its the gear problem and not mine. compared to school 1 time pass for ALL MODULES And 1 time pass TP!

Actually car sharing is not a bad thing, rather than having 1000 drivers own 1000 cars each.. if 1000 drivers share or rent 100 or 200 cars, and not everyone will use it daily. And they just pay and use as needed.

As a former and recently pass student, not all students are in front of computer to book a slot. And seriously it’s super difficult to get a slot. This is a major problem I’m facing in the past. I’m glad I’m through the phase. It’s not about learning to drive, it’s about getting a slot to learn a drive.

The increasing of user using rented car and numbers are increasing for new drivers using them. The concern here is are the car safe enough for public car sharing. There are increasing of rent car accidents recently featured in social media and many user including me even experienced rent car with malfunction number of occasions. Should relevant gov authorities steps in to and look at this issue for car rent company which provide malfunction cars? We do believe rent car do have instant feedback for car user to report this car is malfunction but car was still driven off by the next user which they didn't find out the issue as it is not a visible damage to the car at the point of getting on the car. (E.g car is already off alignments, engine malfunctions, etc.)

I guess i was lucky in 2022 when i enroll at CDC. Enrol in mid may and got my license mid sept. I remember after applying at kovan the first lesson was 3 months later but the person at counter say don’t worry. Everyday go check website surely got people cancel their lesson and that’s what i did.
