100% agree about the GT3 RS body kit, anybody driving one of those on the road is a clown desperate for attention. It completely defeats the purpose of a Porsche -> peak performance + refined luxury. Perfect track toy, but not for the streets. As for the ST, even the decals and white rims on this are too much for me, give me the Touring package all day long. That way the performance is for me to enjoy and others to remain unaware of

This hits differently knowing that Doug was a Porsche employee who reportedly received a new 911 each year as part of overall salary. It was stated that decision to start this channel was in part influenced by the thought of the monotony of that new annual 911 being the peak of a lifetime of work 😁 My how we have truly come full circle 😅 So glad he made the choice he did! Thank you Doug for all the years of entertainment and knowledge! Hope there are many more to come!!

I've been driving 95% manuals only, from the beginning and I really really REALLY don't get how you can get so excited about switching from first two second gear in traffic ALL THE F-ING TIME. Most annoying sh... and in the real world, that's what you'll do most. And to those who don't know how to drive a manual: you're constantly pushing and carefully releasing the clutch pedal, like you're on a 100 year old sewing machine. It's more annoying than it is engaging. The best thing ever is an automatic for bumper to bumper traffic, super relaxing, not annoying, but with nicely clicking shift pedals, should you want to shift yourself. That's the best.

Wrong! The PDK is NOT the best transmission unless you want almost zero involvement driving the thing. 95% of Porsche aficionados prefer a manual. Look it up.

I agree that an automatic is WAY better for bumper-to-bumper traffic, but I think what you're missing is that a car like this (and most if not all performance cars) are not meant to be driven in that kind of gridlock. For a car to take to work in the city every day, you're 100% right. But if you can afford a $500,000 Porsche, that's probably not your only car. It's meant to be taken on twisty back roads, to do long pulls on open stretches of highway, and of course, to take to the track, and in all of those situations a classic manual transmission really shines for the control and feedback it allows the driver to have. I say all of this as someone who's also been driving a manual Toyota MR2 Turbo since I was 17. Is it annoying when I get stuck in traffic? Hell yes, but damn is it worth it when I hit a stretch of open road.

Why would you decide what transmission to get for the car you’re driving most of the time based on maybe 5% of your total driving experience? There’s no world I can see myself in good health owning something that isn’t a manual for daily driving. It’s a better driving experience 95% of the time, so logically it should be the transmission I choose. Unless you have money to toss around, it makes zero sense to buy an auto simply because “bumper to bumper blah blah blah”. If you don’t like driving manual, that’s fine; there’s no need to use any other reasoning to justify your purchase.

I dont understand the appeal really... you can get a car much cheaper with great acceralaration + i dunno where you live, but here in Norway f.ex you loose your license for like a couple years (+ you have to retake it if you want it back = costs around 4k usd) if caught in 120 km/t in a 80 km/t zone :/ *i know a guy that got caught doing 160 km/t in a 80 km/t zone = got 2k usd fine and 4 months in jail aswell.
