Geoff maybe the cab is built to be quieter and the ride built to be smoother so that the air pressure of the Moorgate tunnels does not cause a racket in the cab and the suspension is desgined to cope with said air pressure as the tunnels are more enclosed unlike with thameslink where the tunnels are 2 tracks wide

Forward for braking and backwards for traction feels weird to me. The rolling stock I drive all has it the other way around. But nice driving!
@erkinalp6 жыл бұрын
It is a dead-man measure. Otherwise you would be applying full power when you passed out. This way, you stop if you pass out and get hung on it.
@peteru184 жыл бұрын
That is actually the standard in all of Japanese one-handle-control stock. After almost a year in Japan seeing anything that has throttle forwards and brake backwards feels weird.
@jammerlaan4 жыл бұрын
@@erkinalp if that was the case it would probably be done everywhere since everything is very safety focused (there are loads of other deadman systems though). Also pulling everything towards you would be easier when you run from the cab incase of an emergency.
@jammerlaan4 жыл бұрын
@@peteru18 pushing something to go forward and pulling to slow down seems more logical in my brain. But might be because I'm used to it.
@peteru184 жыл бұрын
@@jammerlaan of course I can't argue with that logic. Then again a lot may be down to the size of the controller and the number of positions. Amusingly enough even in two-handle systems in Japan where the handle is linear the same brake forwards power backwards applies. However in two-handle systems where the movement is circular (rotating handles) the movement of your arm to do the twist is actually usually brake backwards power forwards.

Cool Video! I loved it, quick question: Do the London Underground Trains work like EMU?
@ianmurray2506 жыл бұрын
Basically yes, depends what you're asking but yes they are small wheeled, small height, lower top speed EMU's with electric current supplied by two extra rails. Geared for low speed because faster is not needed and there is a lack of space for suspension.
@LSM_Lover6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's it. Thanks! Like an EMU that when the power is applied all the cars move in the forward direction.
