Driving the Stage 2 Hyundai Verna 1.6 CRDi + Fixing a Gas leak in the performance downpipe!

Unfortunately, we weren't able to film the downpipe fitment and ECU remap of the Hyundai Verna, but luckily, or not so luckily, the downpipe had a teeny weeny gas leak so we got a chance to speak about the tune and downpipe anyways. The Hyundai Verna 1.6 CRDi is a very unassuming diesel family sedan but in this video, we show you, if you go balls to the walls on it, it is actually quite a little rocketship. With upwards of 150 Bhp and 300+ Nm of torque, the Verna 1.6 CRDi is a force to be reckoned with on the drag strip! To find out more on the little Verna watch the whole video!

I have the 1.6 Crdi D4FE, fully aluminium, Geometry variable turbo, 16 valves, 280nm. Pushes very well from 1500rpm to 4000rpm.

Will downpipe result in turbo lag in lower RPM (below 2000 RPM)

Yes, but that also depends on the design of your downpipe. There are ways to significantly reduce turbo lag if your downpipe is designed the right way. Moreover, having a progressive decrease in diameter helps decrease turbo lag.

From my knowledge, the remap should cost appx 20K, the down pipe and muffler should be another 10-13 K, and the tyres should be an easy 6-7K a piece.

Absolutely not, it should cost anywhere between 40k-50k depending on the tuner.

Seriously ya’ll are proud of Bridgestone tyres on a Stage 2 Verna? What are you guys pseudo-enthusiasts? They look like the stock ones. Put some Michelin pilot sports on that beast. You can always upsize. Power is nothing until you put that traction down.

Well 150 bhp isn't an awful lot and those tyres hold up fine for now I guess. Pilot sports are too expensive and useless with the suspension that verna has. Bridgestone does make good tyres too though.
