I just did this drive yesterday...it was really spectacular, and one of the best mountain roads that I have driven on. The shear cliffs on one side of the road and the breathtaking scenery made this one of the most beautiful drives that I've done.

I've driven this road multiple times over the years, and ever time I do my fear of heights gets SEVERE on those damned climbing turns between 2:34 to 3:32. Thanks for posting, I'm using as a training video to help lessen my fear!

Holy Cow! LOVE the view but had my gut in my throat as your vehicle got way too close for comfort to that edge. LOL! I was hitting the breaks from my couch! Those mountains are incredible! Great Video!

Mistyck Moon it looked way more scary than it was. Even I saw it and said to myself, "looks like I was about to go over the edge"..hahaha

climbed whitney mountaineer's route a couple weeks ago and had to walk down that road the same day due to snow and road closures. walking down that road after the climb was the worst stretch ever... Beautiful area though thanks for sharing :D

Anything that has anything to do with U.S. 395 or that is adjacent to U.S. 395 is always worth investigating. Lone Pine - Independence- Big Pine - Bishop - points north, that is such a fun area to explore.

Absolutely agree!

Can one park a truck camper there for a few days while hiking the trail?
@FotoHysteria5 жыл бұрын
I believe, so just based on people stay overnight while they hike.

So the road just ends up at the campsite and you turn around after that? Debating if I should make it up all the way on this road on my trip up the 395 in Spring. Thanks
@FotoHysteria6 жыл бұрын
Yes it ends there. People use this area to park and hike Mt. Whitney as well. Thanks for watching!

From where I started the video was about 9 or 10 miles.
