Just some advice for retirees, disabled veterans, etc. NEVER share any information with you’re passengers about that. They will get , not all, but most are envious and will not tip. They are on their way to work, still working, etc. so they don’t see any need to tip since they think you are “well off”. 3 years driving, just my “2 cents worth”.

I think people are forgetting why we do rideshare. It's to get people to their destinations. We have the choice of accepting the ride or not. We can't gripe about it after the fact. Understandably Uber and Lyft are not being upfront about the $ that's the part that angers all of us. Passengers are getting screwed too. The reflection on how you drive is important so you can get a tip regardless of the destination drop off. I may have a $5 fare which is a couple miles away and I'll get tipped. I can go to the airport and get tipped. Disposition is everything, including helping the passenger get their luggage out of the trunk or assisting the elderly get their grocery bags. I see so many lazy drivers that don't want to help the passenger especially the older females. You carry that anger because someone threw up in your car and it carries on to the next passenger and the next, etc. Stop driving if you don't like it stop ! I love what I do. That's why I have my own clients. I feel that a lot of drivers feel entitled that's not how it works because that disposition displays on the freeway & the streets. I'm not perfect, but you know what? No one is!

Body shop says it will cost $2400, and won't be done until early March. So I fixed it myself in 2 weeks, spending approx $700 in parts. My 15-20 hrs of labor were all on me. Heng, don't listen to Sergio as far as using the stay in the area filter in san diego. Ive tried that in the area and it just doesn't work there because san diego is a little more spread out between the different areas. I end up down there almost once a week from LA. I only drive lyft and in my settings i turn off the switch rides feature. But i keep the add queue rides on and i actually cherry pick from those as they pop up during a current ride. I'm almost 10 years in this game, i drive on average about 8.5 to 9.5 hours 5 days a week and maybe 6 or 7 days a week during the summer when its hot and i put away those earnings to compensate for the winter slow down and the rainy season as i don't drive in LA on rainy days or big drinking holidays. my rating is 5☆. Almost 22k rides. On the days i end up in the san diego area i get a majority of the requests in and around the la Jolla area and they always want to go back towards the airport. Since you live there you're not trying to get rides back to Los Angeles where i live. What i have learned though is without having to set filters if you position yourself near the train stations that run between san diego and Oceanside Carlsbad area it seems to briefly surge every time the trains come in and those riders are looking for the short ride home or to the shopping area or restaurant areas. Good luck and safe travels.
@THERIDESHAREMINUTE
@THERIDESHAREMINUTE 8 ай бұрын
@sergioSMTMC1 only for the stay in area filter. I've been down there to many times. It doesn't work the same as if he was in say around ucla or Culver city. Maybe in the Carlsbad Oceanside area because even without the filter the rides are short because of the train station passengers. As far as all the other stuff you tell him to do regarding spreadsheets and stuff you can give him all the advice you need to help him. I don't have any issues with that stuff as in my 10 years as a rideshare driver. I don't use any of that stuff and I with my 40 years of driving experience i trust my driving habits and how I was taught to drive to keep myself and my passengers safe at all times. And it's reflected on the many comments left in my driving profile. You and your channel give great advice. I'm only referring to the stay in area filter in San Diego. He would have to be in the perfect area for it to work effectively. And I've been down there many times and it doesn't work. When I'm down there the rides always funnel the Same way. If your in Carlsbad or Oceanside you're going to only go south or stay on that area. If you're in San Diego in and around the sea world old Town area you're gonna get hit with rides going back towards the area I forget the name of the area but its similar to like the west Hollywood area in LA. I did notice though that the ride totals seem higher down there vs LA market for shorter rides.
@THERIDESHAREMINUTE
@THERIDESHAREMINUTE 8 ай бұрын
And I have to add, that while I'm usually down there I don't take any of those rides as I I'm always trying to get a ride back towards LA. And usually the closest to getting home i get is Oceanside. Then its dead miles back to Irvine. Pisses me off every time. Lately though with the amtrak being out through San clemente I actually did pretty good getting rides back towards LA. But I saw yesterday they started running the train service again. So I won't be looking for rides into San Diego from lax unless it's paying as good as the last one I gave last Friday. $154 bucks and 50 tip. Last week my lyft percentage guarantee was 88%. right now this week after 3 days of driving, I think I'm at 35 rides 80% earnings on my end and 28.5 hours and just over 720 bucks. I probably would have been higher but I wasted about 2.5 hours yesterday morning when the app wouldn't give me a ride from the lax queue after I didn't get matched with a 630am drop off it took almost 3 hours to move 30 spots. But I don't usually drive lax that early as I was only out early to get a full day in before I called it a day once it started raining as I don't drive in LA when it rains.
@BlendedFamilyMan
@BlendedFamilyMan 8 ай бұрын
Sergio's advice was specific to the guarantees. His advice to flush out garbage trips with an area filter on got me $573 in 8 hours of work. I wouldn't have gotten that taking the long trips that Lyft baits newbies with.
@THERIDESHAREMINUTE
@THERIDESHAREMINUTE 8 ай бұрын
@@BlendedFamilyMan lol. There are no long trips in San Diego, at least I haven't gotten any when down there, they are all $5 to $8 range and occasionally a few $13 to $15 rides. That's why I was saying he's already doing almost 20 plus rides a day, if anything the stay in area filter will slow down his ride frequency. Even in LA market the stay in area filter i use it only when I'm in the lax queue. Because it allows me to cherry pick longer rides but also allows me to accept short $12 rides going 1 or 2 miles and the filter last 3 hours. If you get can match with a longer ride outside of the 5 miles radius it doesn't take any filters away from your daily total. Because if you're trying to cherry pick lax rides without the filter on, if you miss or don't accept a ride after 3 chances you get bumped to the end of the queue.

Wow, I know that I am lucky to be in the Boston market (lots of schools and very small area so easy to avoid lots of dead miles) but whenever you talk actual numbers it is startling to me just how bad it is in other markets. I consider it a bad day if I am making much less than $30 an hour gross from the minute I leave my house until I get home, including breaks... On a good day (but not exceptional) it should be closer to $35. To hear that $25 per online hour is not too bad, in a market that is probably more expensive to live in than mine... I am shocked they can get any of you out of your driveways... And I can't even multiapp because I do the Hertz rental with Uber.

At the biggining everything is beautiful working with these 2 companies, until the end of the year comes and you end up with no money saved and owing money to the irs and with a bunch of miles on your car. When you see your income after all those expenses and divide them by the 52 weeks in the year and then by the 48 or 72 hour you worked in the week, thats when you realize you not making any money maybe $6 or less then $4 dollars an hour after paying the IRS. Then next few year, you see your pay getting cut every year and the surge and promotions. This are the only 2 companies that worked backwards, you never get a pay raise any year, they keep cutting your pay each year, they keep hiring more and more new drivers cause they dont pay them any benefits and keep hurting the older drivers who are complaining that is really slow and their not getting that many rides, its really something to saturated even more and more the market to destroy their own drivers. Then the algorithm kicks in and delayed those drivers who want to work the whole day and 7 days a week.

I realized why when I saw the earnings break down and Uber was taking 60% of the fares. No wonder riders don't want to tip. They're already paying $15 for the ride and I'm getting about $6 of that.

I usually respect all guests, but this guy does not help us, the ones that we have been doing this for a long time (10 years on my case) and we do really need the money. I feel that he is stealing from us..... sorry.

There is a difference between new drivers and old drivers..The new drivers don't know what a trip used to pay..So its easier cause they don't know how bad they are getting screwed..

Segio should have asked Heng if he have any relatives or friends that got killed in the 1970s in Cambodia during the Cambodian genocide . 2.5 million Cambodian were killed between 1975 to 1979.

The moment he said he started right after the valentine day protest, I stopped the video. Meaning All those people protesting out there have lost their marbles. Sorry but I ain’t buying BS from these drivers. I tell people don’t do this gig, don’t get stuck and mess up your life and car. The narrative is the same selling freedom, time with family but with a twist. Oh wait ! All those drivers protesting nation wide must take this drivers advice. But this new driver said hey ! these dollar trips are amazing let me screw my car for a dollar. Not being negative but I can tell you from experience there is no way you going to make money from ride share any more. Don’t fall for the casino gamified trap find something else.

The protest was to gain media attention to the current situation for rideshare driving and gig work. So far in my market, I'm making money for it to make sense for me to continue. Using a spreadsheet, I can tell which are good days and bad days, and reflect on that at the end of the day to see how I can do better.

At the same time drivers in Minneapolis are fighting for fair wages and drivers everywhere are dealing with perpetual pay cuts, this channel is running yet another Uber propaganda informercial featuring another outlier big-bucks earing driver. The one time Sergio interviewed a typical driver a couple of months ago who was struggling with pay cuts and declining earnings, Sergio wasted no time distancing himself from that interview.

@mancywalker1325 Why so cynical? Please keep your bile to yourself, the man is simply trying to better his lot for the sake of his family. There is a learning curve involved with rideshare and Sergio and his team are gracious enough to help others. Why not try helping others Nancy?

That a rideshare gig thing is OVER …. It’s the Greed of these companies who now take 50-65% of the drivers money while the driver pays ALL expences & taxes & HUGE Depreciation Huge gas ⛽️ bills Huge Maintenance fees plus $2,500 deductible so you pay for these accidents & transmissions too airport fees yes city fees yes driver pays ALL …. Then they swoop in and take all the money while driver DESTROYS his car ….. and ends up with NO benefits No sick day No Health No 401k No vacation pay No retirement No food allowance No repair pay Zero!!! Total s- - rip-off job Ends up $10-12 per hour after expences …. Total garbage!! PLUS driving is the most dangerous thing people do … dangerous job….. don’t disrespect yourself …. Go work at McDonald’s and make more or WAlLMART or flip burgers …. Do rideshare and wreck your car and go BROKE …. Ask any driver … they ALL complain … garbage
