I, too, have never had a drop of alcohol in my life as well! The sad thing is there's absolutely no consequences for a passenger that accuses a driver for whatever, EVEN IF there's video proving otherwise. Uber/Lyft know which passenger it was that made the false allegation, but because they wanna protect the privacy of the riders, there's no way you can know for sure who it was and what they said to get you deactivated. That's some BS! For as long as these two ride share platforms have been around, you would think they would know that people will make up stuff to get out of paying a fare, and you would think they'd already have a fix for stuff like that. How about first verifying if the allegation is even true or real before placing a drivers account on HOLD or whatever?

Hearing everything that has happened to this guy is one of the major reasons why I'm starting my own black car service. I am so over all the low life people I keep picking up that don't give two shits about my $80,000 car nor my personal space leaving trash, food smashed in the carpet, eating and vaping in my car without even asking... The money that these companies are paying us drivers are definitely not worth all that bullshit. We need to be regulated already! I may be moving on to bigger and better things but all the drivers need fair regulation because we are not employees and we are working our asses off for not enough return. Realistically all the drivers are upside down making less money than their mileage. That's not right!

youre exactly right. I just got permanently deactivated from a false accusation and I didnt even care. Ive been taking a beating financially ever since gas went through the roof and I simply kept driving because I like the 'work when I want' aspect. Wow. Being a driver for these companies is absolutely wild. There is basically no regulation and no way to hold Uber/Lyft to account for, let's say, stealing your tips, but deactivation is so serious that the damage can easily justify a trip to Small Claims Court. Good for you, Michael. You're helping all of us.
@HarringJess Жыл бұрын
Michael can also mail a copy of the judgment to Lyft's Legal Team. The address is on the website under Terms of Service and Privacy. I took a company to small claims in which I purchased a spa package that they refused to fulfill because they were going out of business in 1 week. I criticized them for selling me the package fully knowing that they were closing. They refused to refund, they ran me around with phone calls and many letters, but once I won my court case, I send a copy of the summary judgement to their legal team. I got an email a few days later confirming that they were issuing a check. So, Michael, send your summary judgment to Lyft's Legal Name, the legal paperwork. Doesn't matter if it's sent by the court, you send it, too, along with a letter requesting payment be fulfilled and reactivation.

I have recently been permanently deactivated from Lyft after just one alleged "discrimatory behavior" claim which was an ouright lie. I held Platinum Benefits and was removed with 5.0 rating with over 5700 rides. On my Uber account I have been blocked for well over a year, which is legitimately my fault in terms of the Covid Safety Measures I loosely complied with back then, which still yielded a couple of false or flakey claims during those times against me. My Uber rating at blockage was Diamond Tier, 4.96 and 100% acceptance rate with 17,000+ rides in Chicago on overnights. Either way Uber and Lyft could care less. Its such a joke that drivers are at the mercy of a lousy robot in most cases of fraud and slander from passengers. @HarringJess Жыл бұрын
Same! You as a driver are getting ahead of them trying to report you. I call immediately after a rider is rude if the ride ends up completed. There was a rider who came to my car last weekend who started off completely rude, and he was literally going 1min up the street. He was probably frustrated that no one was taking him based on his 4.77 rating. It was literally just him and he opened my passenger door. I said, "Sir, if you don't mind, can you kindly close the door since its raining and cold outside. I'm happy to roll down the window to speak with you." He slammed the door and said, "Forge it." I'm like, "Ohhhh-kkkk." So I sat there to wait out the 5min timer, and he came back to the car wondering if I would take him. I said, "I'm happy to take you but you started off the conversation rude and in a bad mood. I don't know if its the rain or you were waiting a long time to be matched with me, but your not going far, so there is no reason to be disrespectful. But its up to you - you can choose to get in or choose to wait for me to cancel so that you're matched with another driver. And your behavior was caught on camera because everything is being audio and video recorded." He closed the door LOL! That was my answer.

I was deactivated from Lyft over false accusations of prejudice according to Lyft, passenger waited 2 to 3 weeks to make complaint I asked what exactly was I being accused of Lyft said their words not mine something about the color of their skin, and I told lyft it wasn't true, was also told that passenger had no proof. asked if I had dashcam I said yes but after 2 or 3 weeks later I couldn't prove I wasn't lying due to cam working on a loop they then said that he couldn't see why the passenger would make up such a story with passenger have high ratings doesn't say what his ratings actually was, I was like I'm a 5 star driver with Platinum status and have been a 5 star driver for almost 5 years and that I don't discriminate against anyone, that I depend on Lyft to pay my bills and know that I would have everything to lose if I were to act that way towards my passengers. I even explained that my family was a mixture of different creeds. said they would do a further investigation. I asked what would happen in the meantime Lyft said account would remain temporarily deactivated. I said well if my account isn't restored I expect Lyft to give me the information that I'm being accused of because I would be filing a lawsuit against the passenger for determination of my character But as soon as we were done on the phone Dennis had made his decision right then and there he seemed me guilty from the start of our conversation. I received email saying I was permanently deactivated no further investigation was ever done. I tired disputing it through email but just kept getting the same answer then they come back and said to many unsatisfied customers experience not possible my ratings speak for themselves. 5 stars I have been temporarily suspended in the past because I had to make a passenger get out of my car on July 4th because she was drunk and threatened to kick my ass and calling me a white b but was reinstated when I told them that I had already reported it the night before. and now since September 24th 2022 when they shut me down I have been told to stop trying because it's not going to happen I will never be able to use or work on the Lyft platform. I've been driving for both companies but I favored Lyft over Uber I miss working on the Lyft platform I was always loyal to Lyft. Got my jacket granted I've only taken almost 4000 rides with Lyft. In 4 and half years compared to maybe a little over a thousand rides with Uber and I only have that many with Uber since I was removed from Lyft cause it was my only choice left. On both platforms for about the same amount of time.

This is so wrong from lyft. All lyft has to do is look at the proof from Michael. But I get it, lyft wants to get rid of drivers who can think for themselves. They want drivers who will accept all ride requests.

Got my first DUI false accusation today. Over 3000 passenger trips and nearly 2,000 food deliveries since 2015, 4.99 rating, and Uber Pro Diamond. Pretty sure the trip in question was one of the cheapo ones anyway. After reasoning for a while Uber, took a breathalyzer test which returned 0.00% alcohol, of course. Thank you for posting this man’s story. I hope it works out well for me, but what stings is that I literally looked at dash cams for the first time last night.

@VivK-mt7kj I hired an attorney and entered into Arbitration with Uber and the Passenger who filed these false allegations against me. The Rider has been notified that I intent to sue her for Defamation leading to the loss of income. As per my agreement with Uber I must first Arbitrate all legal matters through them. It's a pain in the butt, but I intent on seeing it through. It had taken me two weeks just to find out what I am being accused of and by whom. My Dashcam Evidence shows that none of what she claimed ever happened. This woman is so DUCKED, she never thought that this would come back to bite her, but I am very determined to see her punished emotionally and financially.

@SergioSMTMC very right..We as rideshare drivers risk it all for not even a single benefit..That is the reason I saw it not being a full time source of income because of job security.And more so the pricing model fell drastically ever since the lock down was lifted..No more better paying promotions as it was which makes it hard for a driver to reach that break even point.Get a job with benefits and if still interested keep it as your side gig

Im suing lyft now in the state of washington for deactivating me after 5 false claims by passengers. If I win, they will have to pay me for all the driving time I missed for 2 years, since I filed the lawsuit. I want them to pay me gross. Which is about double. It would be nice if I got compensation, but I mostly just want my account restored.
@OnlyTruthLove Жыл бұрын
I don't have dashcam evidence of the 5 false claims, but neither does lyft or the passengers. It's my word vs theirs. They are making a claim that I broke the terms, they have to provide evidence of their claim. "Passengers said x" isn't evidence because passengers are financially incentivised to lie and get their money back.

9/17/2023 11:53pm EST Thank you for sharing this with us, Michael. Knowledge is power. I'm a little late to this game. Much appreciated. I was deactivated for maybe 12 hours because someone said I was driving under the influence. I asked if it was someone inside my vehicle or someone driving behind me. Because that day I had 6 teenagers that I gave a ride to at 3:30am in my cities "ghetto" who I am certain would have attempted to rob me had I not had dash cams in and outside my vehicle and had engaged them in conversation. Or if it was a pathetic psychopathic ex of a distressed woman, I rescued, at the airport, after she was assaulted by said psychopath. As I was on my way to an already scheduled pickup from the airport. Of course they didn't disclose "for the customers safety" I told them I didn't care if it was someone inside my vehicle but please just tell me if it was someone from outside, because if it was, my life could be in danger. They still refused no matter how many times I said that would put me in danger. Fyi at the time of this accusation I was over 9 months sober. After telling Lyft that and asking them if they wanted the camera footage they immediately put me back on active. Didn't miss my normal shift hours. And I do believe it was the psycho who called.

Great interview, Sergio. Speaking as a former psych therapist.. and a rider who was recently violated by a pushy, abusive Lyft driver, who was vaping during my ride and refused to stop, and almost got us into an accident due to bad lane changing skills.... and then ditched me at a gas station when I complained about it... I can appreciate Michaels experience with abuse. With ride sharing, both parties are at risk. But I also suspect WHY Michael got so many false complaints. Foremost, he admits he engages in starting conversation with his riders, when they apparently did not initiate conversation. And when you do this, you are literally on eggshells. Every Lyft ride I have taken, the driver never talks to me unless I initiate. And they usually stop talking quickly, unless I initiate again. I ACTUALLY QUIETLY NOTICED THIS DRIVER TREND EACH TIME. So, in light of Michael's speech pattern and facial expressions during your video interview, I really do not like the way Michael speaks. In my opinion, he has this underlying vibe of passive aggressive Southern style arrogance. He may NOT be arrogant in his own mind, but it is how he vibes during the video. Remember, I am a trained therapist and I spot things about people that mostly go unnoticed by the untrained layman. My question is...when did the problems start? Did he drive for 5 years and then suddenly all the problems were more recent? This would indicate there is something about his demeanor that is triggering the more crazy riders. Regardless, the poor soul is a victim in all these instances (though I have not seen the proof myself and must trust the courts) and with 40% of the population ranging from borderline to certified crazy... (look it up, this is fact)... I still stand by the priority or the rider's word over the driver. Mind you, I am also an independent contractor... and I fully get the risk/downside of this kind of work. But wise people have often said to me, if the oven is too hot, an IC needs to find alternatives to support themselves. Yes, I agree that the system needs to be tweaked, but fully support that Lyft and Uber use an instant 'account suspend' trigger. The person behind the wheel is the biggest risk to the company and the rider.
@KirbyZhang11 ай бұрын
you made some good points. Michael is not a comfortable driver to me. As driver we have to remember passengers are often vulnerable since they are away from their destination, they need to get in someone else's car and have no control. Maybe the pay for driver isn't always great, but it's a good idea to put friendliness and service above other concerns, if only to create a better working environment for drivers themselves.
@veronicahoyos-leonard24598 ай бұрын
You have a good point. I am Hispanic, and our culture is straightforward and sharing. So, I had candid conversations with my riders who could get me in trouble. At the same time, I am a human and want the freedom to be myself. I also have emphaty, and because of that, riders have taken advantage by canceling the ride. Asking for free stops and help in carrying their groceries. It is an exchange of energies in a small space.
