Just bought that G-Wiz myself from a man in Northolt. It is now in Preston, Lancashire. Been refitted with Li-Ion batteries.

I like how MINI has the Great Britain flag on the tail/brake lights. as for G-Wiz, it is a perfect city car/quadricycle. For 400 pounds it is perfect.

A DC G-Wiz like this one is only 6.4hp (8kw) with a realistic top speed of 40mph, the later AC version was 17hp and would do 50mph.

I'm more of an Alex fan I haven't jumped over to EV because of the range and price points along with charge times especially with range going down in winter by an additional half. No thanks if I can't go 400 miles with climent control being used and a 10 minute refill and continue to have that range a year later if it was parked no thanks . Seems like a no brainer for me currently!

That Mini in full black looks wild. Shame the range is a disappointment. Winter range anxiety is bad enough in my ‘161 mile’ Seat Mii electric. If BMW Mini double the range of the next Mini EV, I’ll consider it.

As a car person, I would be really disappointed with spending that much for only 181HP and having to deal with charging. You could get a GT86 for less and have more fun, imo, and people call those slow with comparable HP. I guess I don't see the electrification as a benefit for a car. However, I am partial to those 90s JDM cars myself and enjoy the experience of their driving characteristics and working on them and doing the mods myself. Though now, my 1994 300Z TT is probably worth way more than I bought it for in 2012.

The thing is, the Mini isn't supposed to be a true sports car like the GT86. Also, it should be noted that the Mini is inevitably going to have better torque delivery, as well as having slightly more torque, making around-town driving significantly more fun.

I think you guys have missed the point. TBF as do pretty much all other motoring journos. The reason the mini SE is brilliant to drive is because it doesn’t carry around a 2 ton battery. Every other small car (and I test drove them all) that have a better range, are compromised when it comes to the drive. The Mini puts the drive first, and then the range. Which is the way it should be. If you dont have a way of charging off street, dont by an EV. The tech isn’t there yet. If you do, why are journos afraid to drive distances in the Mini?! I’ve been to wales from Northamptonshire, down to Devon etc, no problems at all. Case in point, journalists keep bashing EVs because of range, BMW sees this, and decides to put a battery the size of the SS GT Britain into its new electric M4- the result? Its an absolute turd.
