Im glad you showed this video. When I passed, I realised I was not taught how to put fuel in my car, I had to ask someone random to show which I felt embarrassed. Other things I didnt know is simple things like how to order food on mcdonalds drive through, how to park in big shopping centre car parks ect, its all the basic random things that does not occur in your head as a Learner but essential things that we need know before we get on the road!

Fantastic video. Just a summary for the future: 1) position the car at good distance from the fuel hose and open the fuel lid (must be ready to plug the hose in.) 2) pick correct fuel for your car (look in manufacturer's manual or fuel lid) 3) fill up as much as you need or stop when the pump stops 4) take out with care, put it back safely 5) go back to the shop, tell the number of the fuel pump and pay

Thank you, it was helpful. Watched it to know what to expect on my visit to the UK, I’d probably gone in to see an attendant before starting fueling 😂. In the US each pump has a card reader and we usually pay at the pump - in most scenarios there’s no need to see an attendant, unless you want to pay by cash. You also have to scan the card prior to starting fueling and it automatically charges by the amount of fuel you pumped in, then hanging the nozzle back to the pump ends the transaction, so the following person can’t use your credit card. Sure thing we have 1-2 states, which made it weird by making local laws which prohibit drivers from operating the pump - they have a designated personnel for that. Our gas (sorry, petrol) markings are also different: starting from 87, which stands for regular and with the numbers increasing towards 93, which is the premium, so knowing that the number in the UK is going down for premium is surely good thing to know. Also in the US there’s some corn shit called E85, which should be avoided unless a person is trying to damage the vehicle. lol

As a diesel car driver. I'd recommend BP ultimate diesel as the normal diesel clogs injectors and leads to dpf filter issues. Plus BP ultimate diesel, gives an extra 3-5 mpg and does pay you back long-term to pay the extra 10-15p a liter.

Ah, i remember those days! Queues for fuel, petrol stations out of fuel, the stench of petrol and diesel fumes, people doing their shopping and spending 10 minutes at the till, or people buying or redeeming lottery tickets for even longer than the shoppers!. And who can forget the obligatory beggars having around? All i do now is plus my car in at home, and I've got a couple of hundred miles ready for the next day. I can charge at a very high rate, so i can add 150 miles in the time it takes to grab a coffee, but i very rarely need to use the Super Charger Network. My wallet and lungs are so much better for it!

Very good video with clear explanations. You said if the vehicle in front wasn’t there, you would have went there instead. What happens when the car goes and you take its place to fill up with fuel, will the car behind you wait until you’re finished or will they use the pump they’re at? Should you be intimidated or anxious if there is a big queue of cars occurring when filling your car and rolling their eyes for you to hurry up?.
@worlddriving

@mooncatandberyl5372

they will use the pump that you were at. i think british people are known for their politeness, patience, and tolerance to queue for long periods of time, its accepted by everyone that if it is busy, then everyone will need to wait. you will wait for the person in front to finish, and you wont mind waiting, so its the same for the person behind you, they wait, just the same as you did, and they wont mind waiting either. with the queens funeral, and people wanting to see her casket, a lot of the time the queue was 5 or 6 miles long and people queued for 24 hrs, moving 2 or 3 step forward every few seconds or every minute, and people did not complain about waiting. you could walk to a petrol station on foot, and watch how it operates before you go in a car to fill up.

@worlddriving
@worlddriving Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Great question, and let's clear up the octane confusion! When your fuel cap says "95 RON" and the pump reads "95 Octane," they're actually talking about the same thing. RON stands for Research Octane Number, which measures fuel's resistance to knocking. So, rest assured, you can use that 95 Octane fuel without worry. Happy driving! 🚗💨
