Don’t hate!!! The Range Rover Evoque is totally capable of handling these conditions and much worse. I’m a totally satisfied owner of a 2021 Evoque and have loved every moment in this car. It is fun to drive, beautiful inside and out, and fully safe in terrible conditions depending on the driver!! Also navigation only responds when you command it to “navigate” as in demonstration #2. Overall don’t agree with your review for many reasons as a proud and happy owner of this vehicle.

@christopherchan48104 жыл бұрын
I find that the snow/mud mode on my Land Rover often makes the traction control limit power to the point that it stops power completely in super slippery conditions. In these situations, I would switch to sand mode, which locks the center differential and allows the engine to spin the wheels freely and maintain momentum.

The snow challenge demonstrates how the system transfers power in slick conditions. Think of it as an incline roller test with variable conditions. If we ran snow tires with more grip, you couldn’t see how the system transfers power as easily. The point is not to get to the top - it’s to show how the system transfers power with various options. “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker.”

I just upgraded from a 2017 JGC Limited and bought my first Land Rover- a 2020 R-Dynamic P300 SE Range Rover Evoque. The lag doesn't really bother me. Just like touch screen cellphones, we as humans want everything instantaneous. When we've experienced faster, we expect faster, and then everything else just seems slower. 1-2 second delays aren't bad. I've read mixed reviews about reliability, however, so I'm interested to see how the newer versions hold up. Thanks for the review!

Why didn't you use proper winter tires? Even though you mention having all-season tires which aren't any good in these conditions, most people wrongly blame it on the car that you couldn't make the hill in the first attempts.

Might as well have tested a Lamborghini - thats 4x4 so is bound to be brilliant in the snow - not......
@drivingsports4 жыл бұрын
Jim Goodwin You’re missing the point. Think of it like an incline roller test. By using tires that provided slip you can see how the system responds to loss of grip on specific wheels. With winter tires the difference becomes less obvious. This was never about *if* it could get up the hill - that’s a foregone conclusion - it’s how it distributes power in the process.
@davemckenzie14 жыл бұрын
You need to use the auto terrain response to drive up the snow using cruise controls for speed not the accelerator and when using hill decent it's the same and you don't touch the brakes. It's a weird sensation not touching the pedals but you need to trust the equipment
@TicketyBoo. Жыл бұрын
As a software developer I often get frustrated at comments about touch screen lag. Any system can be programmed to give an instant screen response then make the necessary system change requested such as deploying snow mode (that takes a second or two in any vehicle). But this means the screen is showing you something is enabled before it actually is. I want the screen to tell me what is deployed not what will or might be. In other words, check its on before you tell me it is. The truth is the slowest responding and most dangerous component of any vehicle is the human controlling it.

We get cars from the manufacturers, not dealers. As we said in the video, the AWD is quite good. In these conditions slip is expected and the system handled it well given the limited traction available. Not sure why anyone thinks this should reflect poorly on the Evoque. What does reflect poorly is the laggy infotainment and awful transmission programming.
