Hey Ryan, I love the videos! I’ve been following for about a year now and have watched every video that came out since I found you. One thing I wonder could be beneficial to your reviews is putting a starting price with the cost of your test model to show how much of a difference the packages make so we could easily compare the before and after prices. Of course, love the videos regardless! Thanks for the hard work you and your family put into them.

I’ve only seen one of these in the wild. It was at the house next door to me which was for sale. The person driving it was a realtor. A 60’s-ish year old woman. My humble opinion, that is going to be the big take demographic for this vehicle. 55+ types. It’s such a weird vehicle. It’s basically just a somewhat large awd-ish sedan with a higher entry/exit position which is good for older folks. It’s somewhat expensive, but not really luxury expensive. Kind of a performance sedan maybe? But not really a performance sedan because its performance isn’t really anything spectacular based on the several reviews I’ve seen. It doesn’t really have much utility since it’s just a sedan with a normal trunk. Doesn’t seem, based on Ryan’s video here that it has any wheel-braking functionality to its AWD so not even that great for trails even if it had ground clearance. It just seems like a vehicle without a home. I think Toyota might have missed with this one. Again just my opinion. Now that being said….the wagon version …..AB-SO-LUTELY!! Awesome video though Ryan. I was sooooo hoping you would take it off-road….and you did. 😂😂

I think it would be a lot more capable with better tires. I’ve taken my old FWD Camry through some pretty shady forest roads and primitive camps, and it never left me stranded. Was the front bumper a bit torn up and did I risk the oil pan repeatedly? Yes. Did it drink oil like crazy? Yes. But she got me through it until getting totalled by a drunk guy on the I-5, and even then I still drove it home.

I really liked the styling of the 2017-ish Avalon. I thought the redesign ruined it on the outside, and was undecided on the interior. But even the 2017... It was too low to the ground for easy in and out and snow clearance... And the trunk without pass-through on the hybrid was not an option for me. Ended up with a Subaru Outback Limited and feel like I got everything I wanted. The Toyota Crown Estate is intriguing, but I think the pricing keeps the Outback a better value. Thanks for reviewing the Crown from your perspective! You helped my decide on the Outback.

That Crown crossover-sedan is an odd looking vehicle indeed. What were the designers thinking? The back end is funky. “Platinum” shouldn’t be a Toyota trim option. It should be “LE”, “XLE” and “Limited”. Anything beyond “Limited” should be a Lexus. That being said, what the heck is Lexus doing offering base trims? They are a premium brand. As for the Crown, a hood prop rod, manual steering wheel adjustment lever, no front seat thigh extension supports, no power rear window and rear glass sunshades? This thing is a Crown in name only. C’mon Toyota, as a Toyota and Lexus owner, I expect more from you. Set the bar high and keep your customers.

You can see the wheel just sitting there and spinning and spinning on this crown thing.. the brakes don't seem to want to clamp down and send the power to the other wheels that have. This thing could not remotely keep up with a subaru. As far as I'm concerned from what I've seen this all wheel drive system is a Fail . Best thing is expensive and marketed as a CUV not a plain old boring. But it looks like to me as far as I'm concerned it's pretty much just a sedan. And on top of that it's got no ground clearance. I've had old sedans with more ground clearance than that. Heck I'm pretty sure that little Kia soul hamster sedan has more ground clearance then this thing.

Wow! Crown came to America? when i was a kid, i think we used to have Cresida Crowns running around. Don't think they came back after that until the second hand import scene exploded, and even then, crowns have been exceedingly rare!

I think the exterior design and formfactor are a consequence of Toyota wanting to make a car with seat height that allowed certain demographics easier ingress and egress. It's basically a sedan specifically built for an older population.

YOU WOULD HAVE TO. What this thing only has five and a half inches of ground clearance? The all-wheel-drive system just lets the wheels sit and spin I don't see the brakes grabbing and clamping down to send power to the other wheels. This thing is a joke even as a CUV/SUV wannabe

Think this was created to give buyers a choice between this, and the upcoming (And all electric) ZDX. And while I am expecting couch warriors to type their frustrations as to why would anyone cross shop an EV vs a hybrid/Max? Some do.

The worst time to buy/finance/lease cars and trucks. If the auto industry never returns to pre-covid times, likely not, most people are keeping their 2017-2020 rides and skipping out buying these now new cars and trucks that start at 50K.

I think it's extremely simple, why did they make it as it is? For car like looks with more room, it does not have to be rav4 clearance, maybe they just wanted roomier car, they have rav4 highlanders 4runners, this car does not have to have clearance in that category but it's good to have decent AWD for roads with rain and snow... this is for Sacramento, if you live in Tahoe get 4 runner or at least Rav4

for a CUV or an SUV you definitely need More ground clearance than that. And that AWD system did NOT look like it wanted to clamp down on the spinning wheels to send power to the other tires, At All. 😞

@@RRr-yl8zr The awd surprised me in bad way too, but it's possible it's too weak for pulling out of obstacles, maybe only for lite slippery conditions, even some ice engine clutches would overheat fast and couldn't do much, who knows... i understand what you mean with clearance, i would like to see Subaru clearance on that too, i'm just considering they replacing Avalon
@RRr-yl8zr
@RRr-yl8zr 4 ай бұрын
@@tallll70 well they got rid of the Avalon because people don't want to spend money on a sedan like that. So they created this SUV like thing they call a CUV and as such it needs more ground clearance and a more responsive all wheel drive system than that thing. As a CUV / SUV wannabe this thing is pretty much a fail. To me it's just another sedan. Not a CUV not an suv.
@tallll70

@@RRr-yl8zr I just thought they were trying to make a bigger sedan, frankly I would like to see it higher too, the awd is so strange, how they can have in one company such a good things like a-trac and this which does not even try to spin and overheat, hopefully they'll improve
