I’ve been curious about this car ever since it came out. Toyota definitely made this car for a niche audience. Who all actually belongs to this niche is anyone’s guess. Still, by the time I finished watching this video, I found myself considering this car for my mother who needs to replace an older VW Passat. The Crown’s higher seating position, near-luxury appointments, and the aforementioned “different” styling might just be the ticket for her. We’ll see… Once again, excellent review!

You always bring out the key details that consumers want to know and details we would never think of. I'm going to wait for the Signia to hit the dealerships for the very reasons you cite.

Not sure what Toyota was thinking with the Crown sedan. The upcoming Crown Signia will probably outsell it 10 - 1. In addition pricing puts it in the luxury segment. Rather buy a Lexus.

Same here, I’d rather go Lexus but after driving it for a week, I do think its distinct look and approach to a comfortable cruiser has a niche. Toyota only intended on selling 20-30k units a year so I think the Signia was designed for people with more sense😂 this is more for people who want something different

@@RealistickI'm old enough to remember the Crown badge in Canada, I was hoping for a proper sedan or a sportback like an A5. If you get rid of pointless ride height it would look significantly better.

@@genzigzag The "pointless" ride height is for their target market, Seniors. Easier to get in and out. Handles snow better. Looks over traffic better.

Why does every reviewer of the Platinum miss that it has auto park? That may explain part of the reason for the high price.

I don't know why so many reviewers have an issue with if it is a Sedan or Crossover. If you like it and it works for you great. Too many makers just copy the latest hot thing. To many look alikes and getting way too expensive. Speaking of expensive, I bought a 2013 V6 Avalon Limited with tech pkg. At the time I looked into a Lexus ES 350. It was $4000 to $5000 more and I didn't think it looked as good (interior) nor an electric and heated steering wheel was worth the extra. My point is that, for the money, build and features for the Crown. You can get a Lexus ES that has more for less. 2nd issue for Toyota and Lexus is that you can't order the build you want for this kind of money. I got a good deal on a loaded ES 350 base so I bought it. To be honest. If my 48,000 mile Avalon road as nice as this Lexus. I would have kept it. 😊

Its a nice car but I dont like that fast back style. If they would have made it a bit more of a traditional look Id consider trading my Camry for it. They also shouldn't have axed the Avalon.

Toyota is the quintessential example of a company which is trying to have something in every segment and trying to be an everyday brand, a value brand and a luxury brand. It works because they are so huge so nobody else can compete in every segment. But sure means there are better vehicles and deals in those segments imo.

Another great edition, thanks ! I have one comment and not sure if it's justified. I"m concerned about that big chunk of black plastic at the front, how weathered is it going to look in a few year? Also, did I understand correctly, it weighs over 4,300 pounds?
@Realistick
@Realistick 9 ай бұрын
Thanks, and I think it’ll look similar to any other black car hopefully! It also does weigh 4300 lbs in hybrid max form, a hair less than 4k in the regular hybrid form. Awd and hybrid aren’t the greatest things for weight savings!

I’d like to own one, but the ground clearance isn’t enough on the AWD models

It’s enough to keep the nose out of curbs but it is certainly not for any type of offroading. Maybe some forest service roads though. Maybe look into the Crown Signia when it comes out!

Honda accord would be great, the lexus ES is a great luxury alternative, a subaru outback is awesome all-around type vehicle if you need all wheel drive and a Venza is a great, premium, awd sensible suv. There’s a million other options but those are some of my favorites if you really need space. The crown is good too but its biggest appeal is its unique theme!

🟦 This one certainly makes us think. I would love to hear from some owners. It is definitely a case of if it looks like a duck if it walks like a duck it must be a sedan. I would also love to here from Toyota as the why it was not a fastback.
