They approach the green traffic lights by increasing the speed thinking it's green and I must go, and this is the problem. If the lights changes last minute they either stop by hard braking or they go in red light. Hopefully this video helps how to approach a traffic light when it's green. This is what I failed my test on but at temporary traffic lights. The lights started changing as I was passing the "wait here " sign.I paniced and instead of carrying on just stopped in a very awkward position. The examiner had to ask me to reverse back.

Thank you so very much, this is so clear and practical, just what I really needed. I'll practice this from now on just to keep myself safe, calm, and comfortable... Now I know what I should do instead of worrying about if I need to slow down/if I'll make it in time etc. You mentioned to start slowing down around 5 car lengths ahead, then at 2 cars distance, I can go back to the normal driving speed if the light hasn't changed. Thanks for the clear instructions

Thank you so much. It was very helpful. This technique worked well when I drive at 20 / 30 MPH. In dual carriage ways, where the speed limit is 50 / 60 MPH, It makes me nervous to apply the same 5 Car length off Gas and 1 to 1.5 Car length to accelerate. (Which means i am attempting stop upto 1.5 Car length, which is too short a distance to break). Could you please share your comment.

Thanks for the video, really appreciate it. A question: safe stopping distance when you go around 30 miles/h is 23 meters. 2 car length is 8 to 10 meters. do you think it would be safe to attempt to stop when you are 10 meters away from the light when your speed is at 30 miles/h?

He said to reduce speed as you approach the intersection and when you are about 1 or 2 cars close to the intersection and the light is still green, step on gas and proceed

I would have thought you would have to be travelling at 20mph or less to be able to use 1 to 2 car lengths as your go/no go decision point. In a 40mph road I don't think it will be acceptable to slow your car down to 20mph.the examiner will probably fail you

What does covering the brake mean? Does it mean press on the brake to slow down?

It means you cover the brake, meaning put your feet on top of the brake and ready to use. Hope this helps and enjoy learning
