Now, I see the limitations of FLC. But it surely has better response than PID. How about it's practical implementation ? Is it also effective and robust when taken to the hardware? As from my experience, implementation of PI-Controller actually makes some issues of delays, and can lead the system to collapse if not taken care of properly, but that's hardware limitation.

Fuzzy logic controller has the main limitations of not being expert by itself. It totally depends upon the input, output ranges and rules provided by an expert. If there is some mistake in the rules, then it will be going to worse than even PID controller.

ASALAM O ALEIKUM, Respected sir your videos are very useful for me ,and helps me a lot. i have a question that the The output for PID ranges from 0 to 8 but when we designed fuzzy logic controller it decreases to 0 to 0.04, i tried to use range from 0 to 10 but the output ranges beyond the limit MY main question is that how should I defend this problem?

Basically we are concerned with the results of fuzzy and PID. not with their ranges. therefore, it makes no difference.

If the reference input is a step function, shouldn't all rules be fixed to the same output as 1 and the fuzzy rule table be the same?

Thanks for the comment. the fuzzy rules are used to change the output based upon input change. Therefore, there will be different values for different signals.

Thanks for the comment. The procedure to implement fuzzy logic controller or wind power plant is same. Just use transfer function of wind power plant from any research paper and connect it with AGC.

Sir does the ranges matter.as the output range is from 0 to 8 in the video as shown but in my case it range from 0 to 22..

No it doesn't matter. But you may change it for better results.

Sir,I simulated a four area control system, first area with pid controller, second area with pi controller,third area with fuzzy pid controller, fourth area without any controller.but i am getting same output ( change in frequency)for four area system sir...how can I contact you sir..I need your suggestions sir

Thanks for the message. I think it is better to model it step by step. First model two area system and check its results. Then model three area system and check its results and so on. Otherwise it will not be possible to find the error.

Thanks for the compliments. In Hybrid both the blocks may be used in the models. Then fuzzy logic controller may be used to tune the PID controller parameters. But in real practice, this method will not be useful due to the reason that it unnecessarily increase the complexity of the system with no ultimate advantage over the existing controllers.

@@DrJALAGHARI I quite agree with you sir. However, in some journals, some authors use metaheuristic algorithms to optimize a Fuzzy-PID controller. I guess that was just for the sake of publication.

Hi. As part of my final year project work, I developed an intelligent fuzzy logic controller which was tuned using a genetic algorithm. Both the membership functions and the gains of the FLC were tuned simultaneously. The MFs and gains of both the inputs and outputs were optimised in this way. There were 2 inputs, the actual value of the control variable and its rate of change, that is, d/dt. This is similar to a PI controller, but there is an internal inference engine taking decisions.

Thanks for the comment. Choosing the specific shape is challenging. It is because no any specific rule is provided. You have to choose randomly or try one by one. Usually it is better to use triangular and trapezoidal shapes for satisfactory results.
