YEEESS!! Finally i found a mom in med school. I'm a first year med student (almost done) and a mom to a 3 year old :) everybody tells me i shouldn't be studying medicine just because I'm a mom? lol ok. It's like 3 times harder but kids copy what you DO not what you SAY, i want to be able to say "yes i had my son when i was 16 years old but that didnt stop me from having dreams and reaching goals at the same time I'm being the best mom i can be for my kid" actually he is my motivation everyday and there's nothing better than hearing his sweet little voice going "mommy doing homework? can i do homework too? i love you mommy" he sits next to me and just cuts my old notes or just plays with my pens and stuff.. best feeling ever. I know the message i'm passing on to him is that education is important, having dreams and goals is important and you CAN do everything you want if you really want it.

There's so much LOL! But seriously I would say just try your best to not beat yourself up if certain things don't necessarily work out the way you had originally planned aka don't be so hard on yourself, give your body as much time as possible to recover, remember that "FED is best" for little one and do your best to enjoy all the milestones and changes your little angel will be going through. Take joy in your blessing and blissful journey into and through mommyhood❤️ One more thing, if you're not already receiving this everyone, mothers or not, will provide unsolicited advice, try your best to take it all in stride and know that your decision is the ultimate and most important one. 😊best wishes with everything! Also, do your best to make time for YOURSELF! Happy mommy = happy baby. If that means taking an extended shower, reading a good book, or working out, go ahead and do it (whenever you can fit it in of course). I still struggle with all these things I mentioned especially the last point LOL

Don't be scared of c-sections. I've had 2, and the recovery was literally nothing the first time (just needed Advil for a few days) and about 5 days of Advil the second time. My sister had a vaginal delivery and had a much worse recovery than I did. Not all c-sections are bad recoveries, so don't worry if you need one.
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+HappyHandyLife Thank you. That's very comforting to know.
@amberlilly18997 жыл бұрын
HappyHandyLife lol seriously? U can't say serious abdominal surgery is nothing it's definitely worst than vaginal delivery and natural and less medical intervention = easier recovery
@happyhandylife41017 жыл бұрын
I can only speak to my own experience, which was 2 c-sections with very easy recoveries. Not every c-section is a bad recovery. My sister had a terrible recovery from a vaginal delivery so those aren't always a great recovery either. Either way you are going to have some healing to do, but I just didn't want her to be terrified that a c-section necessarily means a tough recovery. For me it didn't either time, and several of my friends had similar experiences.
@coppersulphate0026 жыл бұрын
@@happyhandylife4101 everyone's experience is different so you cannot expect everyone to have the same experienxe as you! How one chooses to give birth is very personal! Does not mean you had an awesome C section does not mean it will be the same for everyone

Thanks:)

To attend medical school you are sacrificing many things. You spend your prime years studying and unable to hang out with friends, you are burdened financially, and most of us put off starting a family. This can cause anyone to become anxious about dedicating their life to medicine but I believe that it is also for these reasons you should know for sure you want to attend medical school before pursing it. I always say - get as much exposure as you can. Volunteer at a hospital or clinic. Shadow a doctor. Find a mentor. These things will give you a better understanding if medicine is really the right path for you. Good luck!

In my nursing program, the professors encouraged us to wait as long as possible to get an epidural if we're going to get one. The epidural numbs the area which makes it harder for the mother to feel how to push, ultimately prolonging labor. They told us there was a correlation between epidural use and prolonged labor. What are your thoughts on this? Is it true?
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+comingalong slowly Yes this is true, you want to be in active labor before getting the epidural. At the same time, there does come a point where the patient is too far along and would not be able to get the epidural.

Hey! I actually came across your channel because I spoke to a friend of yours on a forum and asked her questions about being a mom in med school and she said you could help! I’m now obsessed w your videos! The thing about me is, I didn’t have a support system out of high school (I was a teen mom) so I didn’t think I could make it through med school. I’ve spent years since trying to figure out where I fit and it always comes back to wanting to be a physician. I’m 29 and just now going back to school. I have three kids, currently pregnant and I know we want another one in a few years as well. Do you think there’s too many things against me to make it through med school especially given my age? I just can’t think of anything else that I would rather be! Also, in hindsight, when is the best time to have a baby during school? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! 😊

+Alyssa Christine Audition Rotation are like Sub-I's (sub-internships). You do these early in your fourth year at the hospitals/programs you wish to do residency at - this allows the residency programs to get to know you and possibly gives you an advantage while applying. I’m in my 2nd trimester, I’m going into nursing school. My husband works from home n occasionally goes to the office so my brothers n mother live 10min away so they can babysit. We have a lot of hosp work placements 3 in each year here in the UK. I’m hoping to study from home during maternity n when I go back to uni instead of 4 days I’m gna try to opt for 2 days attendance. It was never a right time for me b4 I was working 6 days a week then was at uni ft to finish my bsc. During the second year of Nursing I’m hoping to add on my Msc. So I decided during this summer break why not get preg I’m getting old I don’t want to delay it forever until I need ivf. Some ppl have it 15-18, I’m massive looked like 5m at 5 weeks. Morning sickness is mad, swollen feet n back pain is a killer on top of that sleepless nights giving me lack of energy. I do eat healthy n take all my supplement.

Congratulations ! I was just wondering how did your energy levels/lowered attention spam affect your studying ? Just curious in case one day mine couldn't be as ideally planned !

+FleurDeSel I was just really tired and found myself sleeping early and waking up a little later in the mornings. I honestly didn't even know I was pregnant in the beginning because what medical student isn't tired?

Hello! Thank you for your inspiring videos!!! I am a first year medical students studying in Russia. I want to study medicine in the US. Do I have to go through pre-med training?
@drjennale7 жыл бұрын
+Anudari Otgonbayar I believe that as an IMG, if you want to obtain residency in the US, you would take the necessary board scores and then apply.

Hi Jenny, I'm super sorry if this question is overly personal but at what age did you start medical school and at what age did you finish your first ms1 year? Im going through a hard time because I thought I was going to be able to apply this ccle after taking a gap year but now I have to wait again until next cycle and I'm just really bummed out because I can't help but compare myself to my other female friends who are already starting medical school 😔 Thank you and love your vids and your cute baby!!!

+87cakeface I was 24 and finished first year at 25. There are people much older than I was starting medical school.
