Seen a bunch of comments comparing POTP Jazz to a bunch of different race cars. It would seem as if it's actually an amalgamation of at least three different Porsche racers...which probably ends up contributing to the cobbled-together nature of the thing. Trust me Doc, whenever you get to Grimlock he *WILL* be worth the wait. He's accurate while also packing on a ton of extra details that give him an air of sophistication beyond that of his animation model, boasts a transformation that is intuitive, clever, and most importantly fun to perform in *BOTH* directions unlike the rest of his Wavemates, has all of the essential articulation points that you could want in a WFC Figure (Waist Swivel, Ankles pivots, and wrists), *ALMOST ZERO* hollow parts (Literally the only hollow parts are the inner forearms but you'd have to be serious Scrooge to even get mad about it) and finally proves that "Leader Class" can still mean one big chunky robot and not just a voyager with extra stuff (Not that I dislike any of the new Voyager+ stuff at all mind you). He STRAIGHT UP IS a WFC Trilogy figure that was throw into this SS86 Lineup to fill out the crowd right down to having all of the 5MM ports in all of the places that you could think of [Shoulders, Forearms, Shins, Back, and Feet].

For the record, the RTS one's shape is largely based on the modern Porsche 911, but with a front end more derived from Movie Jazz's Pontiac Solstice altmode to disguise it. I managed to find an RTS one on the secondary market, and he was such an upgrade from the PotP version. @DragoonMS3 жыл бұрын
WARNING: This is gonna be lengthy and probably touch on multiple things. ---------------------------------- The thing with RtS, everything before it all the way back to Classics, and most of the things after it up to around PotP, is that it's supposed to be *modern* renditions of ol' skool favorites. Including some formerly Japanese Masterpiece exclusives that are just now or fairly recently seeing mainline compatible release, such as Generations Selects Cordon, Spinout, the Seacons (and their Beast Wars II Pirates repaints), Titans Return Stripes (who was allegedly originally intended to be Steeljaw), Fall of Cybertron & Siege/35th Anniversary Soundblaster, FoC Sundor, etc. It's not supposed to be straight up G1, though during Combiner Wars & Titans Return up until the brand unification around the time Trypticon came out in Japan, they sure as hell made huge pushes toward it. Hasbro's stuff having G1 toy inspired colors, whilst Takara's stuff had the G1 anime inspired colors...and looks, in the case of The★Headmasters & Chou-jin Masterforce characters...but then, Fortress Maximus is a huge exception as Fortress is also G1 toy & Japanese G1 anime accurate (because that's how the toy looked in both markets), while Cerebros is pretty much American G1 anime accurate. Go figure. For me personally, even though he doesn't scale that well, RtS Jazz is MY CHUG Jazz. And the scale isn't really THAT far off considering that he came out in 2010, four years after the Classics Voyager Optimus Prime (2006)...and Siege & Earthrise Optimus versions are both the _same height as the Classics_. (This is also why I got the Netflix WFC-T version of Earthrise Optimus instead of the actual trailer toting one...better value for the money, and marketed as the Voyager he truly is!) Though I would like to see what scale charts the designers were going off of with both the PotP Elita-1 (who's a repaint & fair retool of PotP Starscream) and the Netflix WFC-T Elita-1 (who's a repaint of Earthrise Arcee); both versions come up to the truck grille abs of their respective Optimus Primes, and both are the next size class down (PotP Elita is a Voyager to Optimus's Leader, Earthrise Elita is a Deluxe to Optimus's VOYAGER), but I simply DON'T recall her in the show being that short compared to him, they were like around the same size. Even in the WFC-T animated series, Elita's not THAT much shorter than Optimus (though unlike G1, she's definitely shorter...just not nearly as much as what the toys want you to believe).
@reyonXIII3 жыл бұрын
It's what Elita gets from being a bare bones remold of that...eugh...Arcee figure. Like...her wavemate Soundwave still has Siege as a base but is so heavily retooled for a better alt mode...they couldn't do the same to Elita? In terms of scale, Mastermind Creations Eupatonium is the proper size for WFCT Elita (and has the way better vehicle mode too) but good luck getting her. Netflix Elita's only saving grace is the headsculpt, which I personally prefer over any take of her classic head, even if PotP Elita's combiner head is still the best take on it. Other than that, PotP Elita's still the superior TOY. And sure, she's a hair taller than Siege or Earthrise Optimus, but what's wrong with having a lady who stands at your height and has rocking chiseled physique? I got Earthrise Optimus 2nd hand at a discount, so the trailer didn't bother me. And yeah, RTS Jazz is taller, but he looks TOUGHER and righteously so as effective second-in-command. It's only right he's as big as SiegeRise Ironhide and Ratchet. SS86 looks dumpy and frumpy
@samwatson-tayler28053 жыл бұрын
I think what Jazz needs is a fresh take. Because he sat out Beast Wars, RID and the Unicron Trilogy there's flexibility in what he can be, the biggest change Hasbro feel comfortable making is "door wings y/n?" and they need to be more adventurous to really slam it. Here's my suggestion, remake Cybertron Crosswise and repaint Jazz from him again, just make it regular heroic Jazz instead of the Shattered Glass version. Then we can also get a Ricochet and Sideburn from that mold.

Jazz in CHUG is a weird paradox. He gets updated more often than plenty of others and is considered a fairly A grade G1 character… and yet, it feels like he’s updated VERY infrequently? Like, compared to say Prowl, Arcee, Cliffjumper, Ultra Magnus, who we get with decent frequency; Jazz is one of those G1 characters where every time we get a new one it’s been a few years. Similar to say, Trailbreaker, Silverbolt, or Rhinox for a non-G1 example. But that’s REALLY weird for such a pretty major G1 character. Obviously with the Legacy era we’re branching out and G1 isn’t the singular focus, but you’d think during the Warden era we would’ve gotten Jazz much more often. As is, weve only gotten these three figures and the CHUG-ish RID15 version. I remember back in the day when people were coping with the 07 G1 colors repaint and FunPub intentionally made Shattered Glass barely different in color scheme so it could be a cope Classics Jazz. It’s just a weird little situation

I had a toy of it (the car, I mean, not just the figure), so I recognised it right away (sadly very damaged and I'm not sure where it is, but I definitely owned it). My only problem had nothing to do with the tamps (I owned him before I learned of the asinine message hidden in it), but is a problem with the hips. His damn right hip pops off at any opportune moment. This might be a case of 'mileage may vary', but it's literally the only problem I had. The fact that his HFG also turned into some really badly made armour didn't even bother me. Oddly enough, the hip problem wasn't there in his repaint, so maybe it was just a fluke.

RTS Jazz is a neat update to the G1 character without outright copying the Porsche alt mode. But I disagree that his transformation is satisfying to the degree it outshines the SS86. The simplicity of the SS86 given how accurate he looks in both modes is actually a satisfying aspect in of itself. It didnt need any fancy tricks or faux parts to achieve either mode. I have both RTS and SS86 and RTS is definitely more finicky, the automorph aspects of the shins can be tricky and frustrating. If im picking one to play around and transform back and forth it's SS86 hands down every time. Also, you can give him the doorwings if its a look you want. I actually removed the speakers and eventually the windows from the doors on the RTS figure because i didnt like how they looked in bot mode, which is how im going to display the figure 100% of the time. The one thing that would have put the cherry one top on the SS86 is if it came with the optional shoulder rocket launcher to homage the G1 toy. Yes, I know it's a representation of the cartoon but still a neat extra to throw in, just like the doorwings look is optional.

I have SS86 Jazz coming from Amazon.it, regardless of precedent it's just the one that's easier for me to get and is _good enough_ (TM). I did try to get a few older Prime Wars toys for characters I was interested in and wouldn't probably get a new mold in a while but apparently a lot of people got the same idea and the prices reflected that. It's still interesting to see comparisons though.

I don’t get the hate behinds the Power of the Primes’ alt mode. Sure, it’s looong, has thick doors than don’t match the door windows, and unpainted taillights, though that last issue is true for a majority of current car bots. I like this mode, especially the headlights, flattened, streamlined physique, and Lazy Eyebrow pointed out to me that it was based on other Porsche racecars. Reveal the Shield Jazz ain’t too bad either.

This was an awesome review - but I’ve run out of time,, and need to continue my watch later. For extra fun, transform RTS Jazz’s pistol/speakers combined weapon into a boombox. Yes, it can be done...

Kinda sad you did not mention the C-clip feture the RTS line had, where every weapon can be swapped and combined. to bad it only stayed inside that line.

I so want personalized gadgets to make a return, likr the foldout speakers, or all the Autobot powers in Animated. It has so much more personality than just guns. I may be an outlier here, but outside of G1 with nice chrome, and 80s spacey designs, and Movie and Prime lines, with how creative they got with the guns, I really don't like Transformers gun. They are just one big piece of plastic, that doesn't do anything, until Siege introduced the effects parts. The effects parts kinda made me turn around on the guns tho. But the only gun itself thag I really like is Armada Prime's HUGE ion blaster, and Siege Prime's long ion blaster.

It's not just you; a lot of TF guns have been underwhelming. You compare them to Nonnef's work, and they just don't cut it.

The reason they didn't get in legal trouble with Porsche is because G1 cartoon model is not perfectly accurate to the car. Maybe it seems like a very small difference, but it actually makes a world of difference. Exhaust could not have the triangles, because that's straight up a Marlboro logo, and aside from it being owned by a different company, you probably don't want a toy for kids to be painted up like a cigarette pack.
@Sarcasticron3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I missed RTS Jazz when he came out and got him as a lucky eBay purpose a few years later. Whenever they come out with new one I'm, like, why? The combination of the still-decent budgets and serious advances in design post-ROTF gave us toys that just don't need updating. Some re-releases would be nice, though.

SS 86 is a figure I plan on getting in the future, due to my SS Jazz not being in the best condition.
@Levi_52_3363 жыл бұрын
I agree that RTS Jazz is the best figure out of the three. I simply prefer modern stylings, and the slightly refined G1 nature of SS86. Also, SS86 isn't a carry over from Earthrise. Kingdom simply lacked the slots necessary to facilitate this many figures (BW and G1), and so the figures whose designs would benifit the most from having fewer WFC ports were moved to SS86, which in and of itself was created to fill the Studio Series line until the next Transformers film comes out in 2022.

@thedrifter55313 жыл бұрын
in my personal opinion this video kinda shows why the actual factories and designers need larger budgets (not only because the prices are being hiked up) but because then we could actually get accurate ss figures(so far bumblebee prime and blitzwing's alt modes are wrong crankcase's robot mode is wrong he looked like berserker in the movie not like a copy of crowbar the KSI drones weren't jets they were trucks dropkick and shatter were horribly wrong first time round and second time round they aren't even triple changers a lot have been inaccurate) and ones that don't snap from the slightest touch and figures may be a bit bigger
@juliebeanns54813 жыл бұрын
I like the overall look of ss86 jazz but, at least for mine it has some awful qc issues such as pre-yellowed plastic, horribly loose knees, overly tight plastic hinge and waist panel, and the peg that joins the legs together broke almost immediately, leaving my copy floppy and ugly
