I think the way I've been dealing with my grandma's recent passing is by going to thrift stores for "retail therapy." The treasure hunt feeling has always been appealing - plus thrift stores are easier on the wallet than the mall, and I am super broke. I've learned from your videos how to find the good stuff. Not just in value, but in craftsmanship, quality, rarity, and fine details. I've amassed more to my already existing collections, so if I ever decide to sell any of them - mostly American Brilliant Cut and depression glass - I've got a better idea of how to price them, and what to look for beyond, "Oo! Shiny!" Honestly, I'm still unsure of the value of a lot of my stuff. I'm still learning. Antique Appraisal Comedy Show is a combination I've never seen, and I love it. Thank you for offering your knowledge to the world, and for making me laugh during a time when I really need it.

Hi again Dr. Lori my moms husband bought a vase and a couple tooth shaped, good size "rocks" from a yard sale. The vase is Emile Galle' signed with irises about 13" tall, oval, in his style. The rocks lol ended up being 2 dinosaur teeth!! What a haul for 10$!! I told mom about you and having the vase appraised and possibly insured. Thanks for teaching me what to do in this situation.

Dr Lori I went to my first Estate Sale today!!! Your training gave me the confidence to walk in there and know what was a good buy and what not to. I saw people grabbing stuff left and right indiscriminately and all I could do was laugh to myself. Dr. Lori, do you have any words or advice for those who are interested in the unlimited appraisals membership but debating if they should get it or not because they have too many objects and feel guilty for putting the workload on you or possibly debating the membership because they have items that they feel won’t be as valuable and maybe like it would be a waste of your time?

Currently, when you subscribe you can make as many submissions as you like. You won't know their value until you submit them for my review. Hi Dr Lori, nice video, we're always learning. So I went to an (new to me) auction house last night, and came out with a box top of "Flow Blue", on piece has an 1/4" chip, other piece, to me looks great. Both pieces are like gravy bowls, with lids. I also got a box top of decanters, all with stoppers. That's not the only reason (red/black). You have to look for quality. I know everyone wants one answer that fits all, but finding valuables doesn't work that way. Pick a few types of pieces (lacquer boxes) and focus on knowing everything you can learn about them. Then, only shop for those pieces. You'll find bargains that way :)

Depends on the piece. People use my online appraisal reports to sell for top dollar. The reports include a location where a similar piece sold and for how much. One person use my report to help them sell a plate for over $1,000. They bought the plate at a yard sale for $1!
