My grandparents were from Germany. Their generation born around 1900 saw china, crystal and sterling silver flatware as how one properly displayed their arrival to the middle class. The carpets were Persian, the tables oak with marble tops, Dresden porcelain figures on the tables, every room had a clock that chimed. I am often nostalgic for that era and the quiet Sunday afternoons spent there as a child, well quiet until all the clocks chimed and the schnauzer Schatz started barking.

@DR Lori, best statement- how 'younger people are trying to recreate either their grandmother's house or mother's'.

Right on target! I just sold my mom's Corning Ware Cornflower Blue 10 inch square covered casserole for $57. She left me a lot of china, dinnerware, cookware, bakeware, glassware and serving pieces so I'm glad the younger folks want to collect it.

I had the one screw the pieces together now painted yellow shelving there in my first dorm room I think from K-Mart..lol. I love that young people love thes older patterns and things and we are biginning our turn back from the total minimalist all too monotone and modern to me look. I love what i put together simply for myself at goodwill or received as gifts over the years of all of the useful collectables as well as occasionally a fancy porcelain thing over the years...how can anyone say no to thrifting? Reseller or not...thank you Dr. Lori.

Oh,Dr.Lori, why does your swatch keep captivating my eyes? 🤣🥰 I have a Pyrex story for you: This is a big casserole piece, with the little blue flower design,it was a wedding gift to my parents in 1968. So,a few years back,at my work,we had a thanksgiving potluck. I made a nice pasta and broccoli dish,in this Pyrex casserole. After we ate,I cleaned it,I set it on the back hood of my car,so that I wouldn’t forget to take it home. So,at the end of the day,I drove off. I made a sharp 90 degree turn,I went over some bumpy railroad tracks. I suddenly heard a tinkle sound. Oh my god!!! This Pyrex casserole had managed to ride all that way on the back of my car!!! I have it,to this day. Actually, sorry,I think it’s called corningware 🥰 I adore you,Dr.Lori. I do🥰

Love watching, love learning from you...BUT is there really much of.a market now for vintage china today? I would be afraid to buy thinking it isn't going to sell b/c formal place settings/'real" dinners have been largely replaced by casual-, air-fry-, quick eating.???? For personal enjoyment, no hesitation, but resale? I wonder how well they do.

In case you haven't noticed. People aren't buying anything vintage or antique anywhere other than Goodwill type stores or facebook marketplace, so there is no money to be made. No one will pay the prices you say the items are worth.
