I like it for everything besides the character models, I simply cannot get behind changing CJs model that drastically, I could get making the fingers not be stuck together but anything beyond that that isn’t just slight graphical fidelity improvements on the original CJ model is going too far for me & tramples the games original art direction

Lost me in using GTA5 style things. The original map icon just needed higher resolution. And no one so far has made a mod for updated lighting that still retains the orange/yellow sunset tone of the original game. Every single graphics mod actually makes everything bland and monotone.

Only gripe I have with adding mods like this is that honestly it's a real pain just to get them to even function. I mean when it works it works insanely well, but I can't even count the amount of times my game has crashed or gave me some obscure error that I had to brute force my way out of. Rockstar really hates people modding their games, and it sucks since they obviously know better than a mobile game company does at making a competent PC and console port, let alone a remaster.

Really? Rockstar games has been supportive of San Andreas mods for decades. It's only recently that their parent company Take 2 is Iffy about GTA 5 mods. I've been modding SA since I was like 12, it's probably the easiest game I've ever modded. You just need to follow the procedure, one mod at a time, test and see whats not working, then figure out why. Most the time it's because you've got the wrong .dll in your game folder.

​@@ScottThePisces Most of my troubles have been most of the higher fidelity mods such as RoSa Project. Initially it took me forever to get it working because since the mod is so large in size the game couldn't even handle it and needed a "heap limit adjuster", which doesn't work on the original .exe because it has some sort of restriction on increasing it's heap size. For the longest time it would either crash the game or just not apply the textures. I'm pretty sure I had to replace the .exe itself with a pirated copy just to fix it. It might've been easier to mod back then since mods were simpler, such as just flooding the whole map with water or something funny like that. But it seems like most of these graphics mods just crash the game someway somehow without a pirated copy. And the more you pair together, the worse it gets.

Funnily enough, I went back and tried to add DirectX 3 to my list just to see if it would work. Tried for about 2 hours, no luck. It will run if left completely by itself on a nearly vanilla copy and works with some very minor mods that add small details, but anything even remotely game changing like models, textures or particles it just seems to give up and crash either on boot or during a loadscreen. At this point, I honestly have no idea how someone got DirectX 3 to run with other mods. Either my copy of the game is cursed, or this game is running on pure witch magic that is beyond my comprehension.

A gigantic part of this games atmosphere relies on that colored lighting/weather/low render distance combo. Warn and sunny Los Santos. Bluish, foggy San Fierro. Sandstorms in the desert. It just doesnt feel like San Andreas without it. Cant feel immersed in the LS vibes if you can see Mount Chilliad and the Gant Bridge on the horizon.

No the game does not crash, for me. I managed to get lucky with the mods being very smooth (there were some crashes) - however one mod completely blue screened my laptop.

Yeaaaah, do not dig the look, I usually prefer simple mods that just upscale textures, make it run well and add that awesome shader the ps2 had. Cool vid though, it is still impressive how much you can change the game's look.
