This is from the storm surge. It appears that the barge loaded with concrete I-beams was under the bridge at the height of the surge and likely lifted the span, then when the water receded, the span collapsed. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY STUPID TO LEAVE THOSE BARGES AND EQUIPMENT IMPROPERLY SECURED!

Give me odds the contractors are Republican and will not suffer a jot.

@@jeric_synergy8581 The contractor is Skanska, a Swedish firm that is the 5th largest construction company in the world.

It can’t be done. Not even moving the road closed signs and setting up a small ramp, it’s just impossible

That's really poor construction, especially in a hurricane-prone area. The concrete mix they used is absolute subpar quality.
@gpcivil88074 жыл бұрын
I dont know anything about the concrete they used on this project but I can assure you that if a steel barge is slamming into a concrete bridge the barge will win in the end regardless of how good the concrete is.
@josepheller83954 жыл бұрын
The FLDOT has to approve the mix design. They also keep up with QA and the concrete is tested before being placed. The contractor has to abide by this on al DOT jobs.

Great video. Who pays for repairs? Are the irresponsible barge owners being held accountable?
@MrGTO-ze7vb4 жыл бұрын
So this is the new bridge that was still under construction. The construction company barges got loose and slammed into the bridge in many places creating all this damage.. I hope the construction company has a fantastic insurance policy???..!!
@KJH76804 жыл бұрын
beaching the barges, installing dolphin structures, building a better quality bridge and the bridge would still be there. They are saying it is going to take a year to fix.

Because company integrity and doing a job RIGHT was the way of business. Now it is how little can I spend to make a LOT LOT LOT of money, and just be complaint on everything. Business owners are corrupt, many of them are owned by MEN. Many men in going to have a LOT TO ANSWER TO GOD FOR.

This is a bridge that should have been built to withstand hurricanes, looks like someone used substandard materials.. This bridge shouldn't have that much damage because of a hurricane. I've seen bridges built, like the one over Lake Pontchartrain that has been through more hurricanes, and it never had this kind of damage. This bridge should have stood up and should not have that much damage. Sue the contractor that built it. If the same company repairs it, I would be sceptical about driving over it. I wouldn't trust that company.
@2446Ann4 жыл бұрын
Amazing that you know what's wrong and who to sue. In actuality, the bridge stood up well to its Category 5 specs. It didn't stand up to being slammed by runaway barges, which would not have been in the specs.
