I really look forward to The Pilot Institue weekly updates, they are a most trusted source in the industry for me and help me feel current and connected to the Drone Community. And the Bloopers Roll is a hoot (who hasn't been there)!

I am happy with my Mavic 3 and Mini 4 Pro as I can no longer afford to try and keep up with the latest and greatest, plus I need a new phone. The only thing I want to see new from DJI is an upgraded NEO as I like it, but would prefer a bit better battery & camera, some obstacle avoidance capabilities, and improved tracking.

Does the EO regarding a Regulatory Freeze have any effect on the Advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPRM) published by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s (DOC) Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS)?

Maybe thee drone show had an added problem with frequencies being on what cellphones havee and the water reflecting signals increased interference. Any gps jammer could of also made things go haywire.

Thanks Team PI! Off the subject, but I keep hoping the new firmware downloads will allow my Mavic 3 Pro to take photos simultaneously while I'm shooting video; get with it DJI - Autel allows, iPhone allows??? I miss great shots while shooting video, instead have to fumble around changing from video to photos and visa versa.

If the "government" is really concerned that Chinese drones are sending images back to China, why are cell phones manufactured in China okay? They contain FAR more data in addition to images and actually have far more communication technology to discretely do so.
@angelnunez64769 күн бұрын
It’s the same government that was tricked into believing that Chinese drones can read heartbeats by skydio head. There too old and don’t know much about drones so they believe everything there told about them. Unfortunately what there told is coming from a competitor so it’s biased against Chinese drones and mostly lies.

I think the bottom line is that there are powerful interests that want to see private usage of drone technology to become more and more restricted. Drones give the common population a significant amount of power, anyone can pick one up and are able to fly into areas that have no other way to access or see, and they can also be used for malicious purposes very effectively. While there haven't been incidents in the U.S. that have been problematic, and by far, we have a very respectful and law abiding community, they still don't want that door to be open. The whole "CHINA IS USING IT TO SPY ON US" ... that's a ruse, and excuse. China makes a ridiculously large percentage of our technology... cell phones are a great example, but they have eyes and ears in a billion other places. They even have made parts of our critical infrastructure, I just read a story this morning about a transformer being seized in Houston a few years back and hauled off by the Department of Energy. Reports later said they found backdoor technology that allows it to be shut down remotely. Made in China. But sure, we are so worried about drones that we have to restrict further and further.

How can Connecticut do this legally? The airspace is controlled by federal agencies, not the States. Is it because they take off from within the state?

They are not controlling airspace. They are controlling equipment.

As a public administration professional (now retired), I have thought the pausing regulatory development and review pending direct political authorization sounds good, but often bogs down the system as everyone waits for the ideological pols to argue amongst themselves about policy nuances that they no little about.
