RC aircraft, what people now call 'drones', can be of any size. RC B-17s were used as targets and suicide bombs. Joe Kennedy was killed testing one. Target 'drones' have been used for almost 100 years. Just because an aircraft is radio controlled does NOT make the aircraft change size. These are the size of cars because they are 'flying cars'. The US issued licenses last year to many companies to produce, test and sell 'flying cars' but they need to meet NTSB requirements first, which is what they are doing right now. Those testing flights, just like new cars get testing drives, are used to prove they are safe. Auto manufacturers test their cars and try to keep their designs secret from competition, just as flying car manufacturers. The US govt knows all about what is going on but the Biden admin is incapable of being honest, so they claim they don't. Most likely, many politicians are invested and want it to get hyped and then made public, so they can make millions when their stock splits.

I don't recall the US granting licenses to 'flying car' companies in 1946 and then claiming they were 'weather balloons' in 1947. Fill me in on that one and I'll fill you in on how, in December of 2023, more than 3 companies were giving license to produce, test and fly 'flying cars' in the US. These vehicles do not have to file a flight plan, do not require a pilot's license and are to be flown at certain altitudes over areas as to not interfere with commercial and private aircraft flights. They follow the same rules as ultralight aircraft and the US govt knows all about them. But, you can go chasing little green men if that's what floats your boat.

Manned aircraft have standard lighting. Port colored light on the port side and a green light on the starboard side. A white light is on the tail. Other aircraft (and you) can tell if the aircraft is traveling to the left or right. Most of the craft that I have seen are aircraft.

We are going to Lago Vista, TX for a drone show, where there will be 100 drones with lights flying to make a show much nicer than fireworks. We went last year, and are going this year. I am of the belief that some of the sightings, especially those over military bases are DOD assets, otherwise, the US Govt. would be on full alert. Their indifference shows that they know exactly what the drones are.

The vast majority of private pilots and light aircraft either cannot fly at night or avoid it like their life depends on it. It is very rare to see small aircraft flyinmg at night.

Every 'flying car' company out there flies at night because they know their competitors are watching, waiting to steal some tech or design. Just like every auto manufacturer drives their new models at night, and camouflaged. So many people that have no clue what they are talking about, talking... Since no pilot's license is required for these 'flying cars', you could very well be right that pilots may not be flying at night, but those flying car test drivers certainly are. Night 'driving' is part of the NTSB's requirement to get the flying car certified.
