@@ParkersReef I’m struggling with nitrate, it’s coming down slowly with Chaeto and biopellets kicking in. For this reason I haven’t placed any corals. I thought I had a lot of fish, they bump into each other in that new display tank :). There is hope for me yet! Unless they are doing 20% water changes weekly, I couldn’t match that in my 300 gal

Holy hell $160 for a Royal Gramma? TBH I think they are worth much more than the $49 here in the states. They live a lot longer than a fire fish that has a 5 yr life. I have 3 in my 300 and they are a constant source of ent, they hang out in the water column keeping an eye on each other

Hi there, I will be setting up a 600 litre mixed reef tank. So, I was hoping you could give me some tips on how I can help mature my tank faster therefore making it more stable. I’ll be quarantining all the fish that will go in and for the inverts I’ll just rinse them in saltwater after acclimating them and then add them to the tank. For corals I’ll dip them and then remove the peg of the frag plug and add it to the tank. After cycling the tank I will also add copepods as the first clean up crew and also as a source of food for the fish. What else can I do to help mature the tank faster? Please let me know! I may get some mature bio media from other tanks and then add that as well, but I am not too sure about that as most people here don’t quarantine there fish and almost always have some type of disease in their tank. I will be using dry rock and sand as that is the only option. Also I won’t have a refugium in the beginning. But I plan on getting the bio media and keep it in a bucket with a few mollies. If they do not get sick after 14-15 days then it should be safe for marine fish. I saw this on humble.fish I believe and they said it works because mollies are freshwater fish and they don’t have any immunity against saltwater diseases, so, if there are any diseases in the bio media then they will definitely get it. Please do let me know what else I can do to increase the bio diversity and maturity of the tank! I’m really sorry the comment the really long 😅 but please do help me out, thank you again in advance! :)
@ParkersReef2 жыл бұрын
If you truly want to go the no-exposure approach with zero percent change of disease entering the tank, time is the only option you have to cycle the tank. But alternatively, you could try the mollie method, I can't say I have any experience with it though.
@abyankabir19102 жыл бұрын
@@ParkersReef I see thank you so much! Is there anything else you would suggest to do which will increase the bio diversity in the tank other than using mature media and dosing phyto and pods?
@ParkersReef2 жыл бұрын
it is a bit of a contrast of approach as you are wanting diversity but also sterile. Makes it tough to cycle a tank!!

Perhaps see if you can get a little media from a tank that you are happy has been handled the way you want and is disease free?

Another nice lfs tour. The only disappointment from this shop is too much NFS stuff, like the current acro shipment, I went to the shop, been amazed with its but whatever piece I asked……NFS. If NFS better to leave in the basement out of customer view. Just my 2cent.

Plenty amazing stuff that is for sale though!!
@NRKA2 жыл бұрын
Hey jay. Not sure who you spoke to but a lot of the new sps in the shipment are for sale of course we will select a handful of acropora to end up in out aquaculture tank in the center of the store. Apart from that tank every single tank about 6000lt of tanks everything is for sale. The basement no longer exists due to economical changes in the world we had to shut it down so don't have the ability to put our aquaculture downstairs. The alternative is we just sell wild coral forever... We are just not into selling wild acros, it's not our thing.
