As a person who has frequented many a dark ride at Disneyland for years, Efteling's rides have a wondrous childlike charm all their own. They often remind me of European stop-motion animations of fairy tales. Kudos to their designers and engineers. :)

This has to be one of the best darkrides in the world, everybody can experience it in their own way and there is no real storyline. You just fly through a world of fairytales and dreams. I love it and great vid to show this world class ride to the rest of the world

I have been on this ride like 20 times, it never gets old. I live in the Netherlands and the Efteling is amazing. My favorite scene is the planet one.

That area might look a bit shabby on purpose, to contrast the dream world within. On other rides, the builders pay a lot of attention to the entrance, the vehicles and even the waiting line, so that you slowly get drawn into a story. This ride is different. You get into an ordinary ski lift in an ordinary loading area, and a few seconds later you "wake up" in a fairy kingdom.

Efteling definitely puts a lot of effort into their attractions, some of their rides comes very close to Disney and Universal quality. I'd would definitely visit in future especially since I want to see a lot of Northern Europe in the future.

I mean, Efteling also made Symbolica, it is the one park I don't see switching to screens. Now, many people still prefer Droomvlucht over Symbolica, but it is usually pretty close.

Did you do the haunted castle (spookslot) when you were at Efteling? It's very beautiful and contains a lot of haunted mansion influences since disneyland paris wasn't build yet (1978)

Yeah but Disneyland's Haunted Mansion opened in 1969.

Rune Callewaert I always thought the tombstones used their own mechanism. Do you have a source? The Crystal Ball of the ‘Eastern Spirit’ (strange name when translated haha) and the spider on the face in the entrance/pre-show are all Peppers Ghosts am I not mistaken? Same technique right?

@@tmcprod I know it by heart... It's all about wise use of available budgets. The park is not sitting atop of a gold mine, and rethinks very carefully where precisely spending the money. It's due to this constant budget care, that the park, overall, is so wonderfull, and still has ticketing on a level of 50% or lower, then Disney parks...

It’s a very beautiful ride. I have been on it more than once. What you don’t notice in the video is that at the end you go in a kind of free fall down around that tree. Just like a kind of slow roller coaster. I love it.

that is not a free fall at all, a free fall is a roller coaster drop, during the drop there is no gravity. baron 1898 has a free fall, but droomvlucht not.

Expedition Theme Parks did a history video on this suspended dark ride attraction not too long ago, and he mentioned rumors that people thought of the attraction as a roller coaster when their vehicles spiral downward toward the ground level near the end of the ride experience, when really its not. Anyway, @MarcoWintjens, I'm glad you like it.
