Been playing Drop-B and lower on a Floyd Rose equipped NJ Series Warlock for almost 20 years. Easily one of my favorite guitars to play. 🤘 Was using DR Black Beauties 10-52 for a long time. I'm using Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky (12-56) now. Considering the Mammoth (12-60) for the next time I switch strings.

I usse regular sslinkys from 7 string set, i use the bottom 3 and top 3, i think a 56 is perfect drop b on my charvel dst1 jumbo frets, works great

I know this is a late response, but I just wanted to say, same! Sunburst, rosewood, and all black pickguard, bridges, knobs. GC said its an Affinity, but I cant find an exact match online. And tremolo! Its sooo sick actually!!

@@mattlombardi54 for me personally it's too thick for drop B on a 27. I use a seven string set with 58 as the thickest string. Works better for me personally. I have three 27 inch guitars and on all of em it's 58 to i don't know what's the highest string, haha. And for a normal scale length like 25,5 i use mammoth slinky strings where the thickest string is a 64 gauge. Works perfect.

@icon I can confirm that you need literally none of that, all i did was take a bunch of random strings i had laying around from an old thicc ass string pack, basically 13-72 and it works fine and stays in tune better than my E standard guitars. Plus i dont play on any expensive amps like that, and it works in perfect order all the time, the only time it doesnt is if you mess hit the tuners on something.

The story is they were built in California in the 70's and they were great guitars, Joe Perry used them, and they were hand made. Then they started making them in Japan in 1980 and they were able to make them cheaper and sell them cheaper. They were actually still made very good in Japan up until 1984 were they moved to Korea and they went down hill. The problem is when they were made in Japan they did not keep track of serial numbers very well so now its hard to tell the difference from the Japanese ones from the Korean ones, except the quality went down hill when they left Japan. It is a longer story then that but if you have an American one from the 70's they go for a couple of thousand. The one made in Japan are sleepers, very well made and because they were made in Japan people thought they were junk so you you used to be able to get them for a couple of hundred dollars now people are getting hip to them and if you have one in very good condition they go for $500-$1000. I have a 83 Candy apple red Bitch model in mint condition with original case that I bought about 20 years ago that sounds and plays great. I did not know the story about them until about 5 years ago. They are making them again, I don't know how good they are but they are going for starting out at like $1500 and up new.

I got 11-56 on mine for drop b and I’ve been messing around with the setup. Hard to get rid of the low e open buzz. Must need thicker gauge?

For drop b I get the Ernie Ball cobalt 11-54 set, then replace the 54 with a 56. Sounds good to me, no muddy tone or fret buzz.

Use that 11-56 but swap the .56 for a .58 or a .60 if you want supreme tension.

I feel like 60 is too much for B. Maybe right for like drop A or G or so. For drop B 52-54 is enough for me and far more comfortable. Also i can hear even in this video the sound is a little choked to my ear. Kinda like how a snare sounds thats tuned too tight. The sustain doesnt bloom freely enough.

Drop b is used by starset, breaking Benjamin, eyessettokill, one of the songs from that movie sing. And most likely tons more bands, but I don't listen to more than that or really play more than those bands. Yet.

Machine Head, Devil Driver, for sure use drop B, easy to jam to. Some older DOPE cds were in Drop B and easy to jam to, but they go lower nowadays to A.

Those 60s are for drop A and lower. The tension on those would feel disgusting in drop B.

Definetly not, 60's are perfect for the low B and 70's for A and lower, if you enjoy a loose feel, then 54 for B and 60 for A and lower

Caleb Simmons 56-52 sets are just fine for drop b (especially with floyd equipped guitars) and much easier to find dude you don’t need the bridge cables for that ahaha as long as it stays in tune it’s all depends on how you like it to feel

U can adjust it very straight but then you got some problems with the buzz at the first frets. I have a jackson with floyd rose tuned to drop b and its hard to intonate it perfectly even if my floyd is blocked.

That would be B standard (BEADF#b), the tuning used in this video is drop B tuning (BF#BEG#c#).

Nice Warlock. That's an unorthodox string gauge choice and it sounds like shit. And there ya have it folks. These Warlocks sound best with 10's or 9's period. The Guitar Gods do not approve of this shenanigans

10-52 for D standard all the way to drop B, then run it through a boosted Peavey 6505, EVH 5150, Krank Krankenstein, or Randall Titan. BOOM Aggression defined.
