I have a tremol-no and it doesn't require any modification or drilling on the guitar. The only thing you have to do is to swap the original string claw for the tremol-no one, but that is done using the same screws. And you can remove the system and put the original claw whenever you want, so it's a totally non-destructive mod. Another tip: Line6 has acquired some of the Digitech's team and already have and updated/more advanced drop algorithm in the Helix ecosystem for a while now. You may want to check the HX one, a new pedal that runs one effect at a time, so it's even cheaper than the HX Stomp. It's very compact and it's an interesting option when using polyphonic pitch shifter effects on demand.

This is awesome insight! I didn’t even know that option existed for pitch shifting. I’ll check it out and maybe get it in the cue of videos… Regarding Tremel-No, I’ve heard mixed things about engaging/disengaging the system. What has your experience been? Does it stick?

The monster is being unleashed, my brother! I almost can't believe it! Haha The pick grip, the 2mm flow pick, the metronome, the practicing, staying relaxed, making each stroke count, picking with intention, pick slanting, 20~ degree pick angle, making each chunk sound clean, and using the strings as the fulcrum! - more people need to talk about this. The string stabilizes the pick!!! I never hear anyone talk about this sensation and stability. Please talk about this in a video! It may pertain more for people who have a weak up-stroke attack and coordination. I am left-handed, so picking has always been my weakness Man, it has been a lot of work over the last couple of months. Destroying bad habits one at a time. I'm not using or locking my elbow, less pain in my right shoulder. Thanks for your help! 🤘🏻

Oh man, I only have Neural DSP and by God, changing tuning with a roll of the mouse is a gamechanger for me! So many songs I used to avoid playing that I don't anymore. Just Drop-D is the only kicker

Mouse adjustment is definitely convenient. I do it for volume with my Fractal stuff all the time 😆

This was great! I've more or less been doing this for about a year now - I just leave my guitar in Drop D 95% of the time and use NeuralDSP's transpose to go down as far as about drop C before switching to a 7 string... where I do the same thing to comfortably get to drop G. Hadn't considered recording lead parts without the pitch-shift applied... I'll definitely try that out. I've been happy with the transpose on the NeuralDSP, personally. The latency doesn't really bother me - I've gotten used to recording with a lot more than it introduces lol. Though, interestingly... I've found it sounds a lot more weird and artifact-y tuning up, rather than down. Anything beyond 1 semitone seems to go pretty glitchy, whereas I feel pretty okay going down even 4-5 under high gain. On the floating trem tricks: Personally, I have the tremolo on my Strat decked (ie. you can lower the pitch with the whammy bar, but you can't raise it). I only really use it for the occasional flutter, so I'm cool with the restriction. It allows me to swap between E standard and Drop D pretty quickly, which is all I need. As for string gauges... I mean this is why I love tuning down in software! Just using normal-ass strings that are easy to find anywhere, not needing to file down your nut slots to fit big chonkers, not needing to redo your entire setup just to drop a whole tone or more, or not needing multiple extra guitars to leave in multiple different tunings is so nice.

Another option for changing tuning on the fly could be the Line6 Variax guitar line, which utilizes piezos and onboard tuning and modelling processing. Too bad they discontinued these guitars because i think it is a very useful and inspiring technology, not just for the custom tuning options, but also for the guitar modelling that it can do. Just wanted to throw it in the mix as options for (down)tuning 😉 Very cool video Matt 👍
