I fish a lot, and I MEAN A LOT of cool places.. A lot of which I have to walk a long distance through some woods n' chit to get to. This juan, not so much. You can drive right up to it, there's 2 separate spillways to fish 50 years apart, one has a bridge to walk across, nice stable rocks that don't try to kill ya, a side pond if you're really bored, and lots of BIG FISH.. Not always the easiest to catch, but definitely comfortable to fish.

I see you are using the Kasking Kapstan. You should invest in the Piscifun Alijoz 300. Got bait clicker, tons of drag, cast beautiful, and retrieve is smooth. It's about $50 cheaper. Also holds more test. I live on the Gulf Coast and fish inshore. It handled 56 lb black drum no issues.

Flathead are pre spawn feeding in nw pa already normally don't start pre spawn feeding like this till mid une but water is 10° warmer than normal already. Got 5 yesterday from 730-1030 3 females in 30lb range 2 males one 20lb and one 10lb 4 on bullheads one on 9" bluegill

You should really try a drum head for flathead. Works amazing pre spawn flats. Live baits a bit better later in the year. That’s just my experience here in mn.

Having spent an ungodly amount of time fishing the canal, I will say there are times when it is hot and the fishing is great,other days you may sit for a full day without a nibble. Very hot or miss but a fun and fairly easy place to fish, tourneys there used to be a blast.
