What you mentioned about the SP spool and backing is exactly why I've been trying to find more Shallow Spool reels. I'm not a fan of having to calculate how much backing I need so that I at least get two reels with one spool.

I wonder how contaminated the fish are due to the high number and concentration of boats and industrial complexes there. I can see oil sheen on the surface there. I commend you for catch and release and collecting any trash that you come across.

Thank you sir - really appreciate you taking the time to respond; just ordered a second kayak and my son and I will both take our fist voyage soon (you and a few others have inspired us to go make more memories). We’ll likely start inshore in Bolivar initially. Like you said In a vid a few years ago - the best kayaks are the ones that put you on fish and #2 - don’t over accessorize initially - but I do like gear and want to make sure I can track backwards!!
