Hey Matt, I have that same cheap Kayak that I used to take out on the ocean fishing and crabbing, I developed similar scratches on the bottom rear as in your video and thought it was okay, then one day I was about 2 miles out of Santa Cruz and realized I was sinking. It was leaking from those little scratches, I barely made it back to land after struggling to paddle a water laden kayak and frequent stops bailing the hull with a gatorade bottle. I ditched it and bought a real ocean worthy Hobie outback kayak. So be safe my Brother!

I'm glad it was you and not me.. :Very tricky situation. You need to find an island with a beach. Better is an island you can get to at low tide. If you switch to sand bag sinkers, You won't get caught up on snags as much. And if you loose it, it was just a sand bag, and maybe a hook or something. I usually don't use lures in the rocks and kelp. There were plenty of mussels for bait out there. Seems like allot of effort with little reward. But was a nice adventure.
