One of the first lessons I learned from my father when fishing from any rocky shoreline was before casting always look for a safe spot with solid footing where you could fight the fish from so you wouldn’t get pulled in or fall when casting. Another lesson, if you can’t safely land the fish from where you are fishing from you shouldn’t be fishing there. Love your channel but you almost falling in brought back memories. Stay safe

Wow, I’ve watched thousands of epic GT/kingy videos over the years with unbelievable fights. Long time follower so I know you set to your drag to a level that your physical attributes & knowledge of how to fight these fish simply wouldn’t be possible most to handle That being said, that first kingy had to be one of the freakiest fighting specimens I’ve ever seen. Those vertical runs at the end of that fight were so intense with the line angle so close and the rod folding away. I always knew kingys were badass but your videos have shown me they’ve got to be right up there with GTs pound for pound, and maybe even more likely to ledge you? What an incredible fish and video. Thank you for sharing.
@jack-he7fv3 жыл бұрын
throughout the fight, pound for pound kingfish are the stronger fighters. GTs hit the lure much harder and go on a stronger first run but shortly give out. A king will keep battling until its out of the water
@DanEvan3 жыл бұрын
@@jack-he7fv yeah I think a lot of the pressure a GT puts on guys outside that initial run is due to their tall body height as well. Once they’re on their sides it must be like trying to lift a 30 kilo floor mat. I’ve never caught either species, just bluefin tuna on spinning gear, so I’ll take your word on that one man. Both are absolute savages pound for pound and I’d dread to see what they’d be like if they reached bluefin tuna size
@fisherman78342 жыл бұрын
@@DanEvan mate they both fight hard a bit different of a fight. One place I have been to, the GTs there are uncontested in fight by anything really but in general kingfish go harder especially off the rocks

Hi, I really enjoy your channel !!! I wanted to please ask a professional question: is there a reason you work with such a closed clutch and do not let the fish move away? Thanks in advance
@JEWildsFishing3 жыл бұрын
In New Zealand with these Kingfish, they take you straight into the reef. If you had a lighter drag pressure the fish would have you in amongst the sharp reef in seconds and you will lose your fish, lure and pride haha. The trick is to keep them away from the reef and the only way to do that is to stop them in their tracks
