This is the era when KISS was in their prime. What a time to be alive! I was 12 years old and KISS was my favorite band. It was such an exciting time. Me and my best friend would fantasize about being in the band. I was Peter Criss and he was Paul Stanley. Music back then was pure and raw.

I was too young to see them in their hey day. Saw them 96 reunion MSG. Best concert. I was 8 years old again having a Kiss concert in my bedroom. Mom walking in to put my laundry away just shaking her head. Love and miss you mom❤❤❤

@@josephlinnell9855 I remember that head shake only I was 15 and my mom was sure I was on my way to hell. I didn’t get to see them live in their heyday either, but, like you, I saw them in 96. Best concert ever. I had tears running down my face when Peter took the stage and sang the song that started it all for me, BETH

I had tears as well. What suprised me most was when they did 100,000 Years. Me my sister Jane who turned me on to them were both in our own world together. Very nice to meet and talk about a band that influenced me like no other
@SndyOr
@SndyOr 13 күн бұрын
@@josephlinnell9855 influenced me like no other for sure. Saved me from permanently checking out. Also the concert I went to was the Destroyer tour brought back. They played the same songs, used the same equipment and even used or recreated the stage and the costumes . They also included songs from other albums though. Funny that in 2024, I discovered a Romanian band called Carla’s Dreams and they wear makeup. The songs they sing are much like that of Kiss. They have 8 songs in English and the rest are in Romanian. I was just as captivated by them as I was Kiss and still am. Music is a universal language. I look up the lyrics so I know what the songs are about. Btw, I lived,ate and breathed Kiss. Was disappointed after Peter and Ace left. I quit Kiss after that departure. I love the ORIGINAL line up and listen to the Old KISS all the time. It’s nice to know they were Everything to so many people.My videos and playlists are public on my channel. Feel free to drop in.

Saw them in May of ‘76 at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg; it was their next to last stop on the Alive! tour before the Destroyer tour started in July. What a great show! It took almost 2 days to get all of my hearing back, they were so loud. Peter Criss did his long solo on 100,000 Years, with his drum riser going higher and higher towards the end of the song. @Shawn- Bubble still intact. I've always known alot the tracks were dubbed except for Peter who had the only live tracks on the album. Regardless of the over dubs, it still captures the "live sound" and everyone followed with the formula in the 70's after KISS. Eddie Kramer produced the ultimate KISS sound which was used in Rock n Roll Over, for me it's the only studio album with the true KISS sound. Tracks were recorded live on a sound stage, except for Peter recording off stage somewhere, and the rest dubbed for the final mix in the studio, just like Alive.

I love the Rock n Roll Circus when it comes to town! Gene the flame thrower and blood spitter. Ace the Space Cadet. Paul the Lover and Peter the Catman! They were hot back then. I got my chance to see them on their 96 Reunion Tour. And they knew how to put on a show and party! It was like being in a time warp. It felt like the late Seventies when people just wanted to party all night in clubs. Thanks for posting!

Sounds much better than Alive 2 but not as good as Alive! I’ve always thought that Alive 2 doesn’t sound that good. Shout It Out Loud in particular is way too fast and the twin leads in the intro sound bad. I do like the studio side with All American Man though.

I saw KISS for Alive I as an opening act for Black Sabbath on their Technical Ecstasy tour and the crowd wanted Sabbath but couldn't turn loose of KISS it was truly amazing and if you were too young to go, then you are too young to know. These original 4 guys shook up the Rock-n-Roll world. They weren't just a fire show. They could jam.

Agreed with comments here: This is the quintessential KISS. They were a very tight and talented band. Their makeup and stage theatrics were something that people either "got" or simply did not "get it". If they didn't "get it" they dismissed the band as not being talented musicians. But they were very talented. Those of us who "got it" with KISS understood that the makeup, stage theatrics etc were all part of an entire package. KISS didn't want to just play music. They wanted their fans to be entertained in every possible way. And they made sure it was high energy. This video is great. Such a great entertaining band.

@@JeffKopis “Alive!” was a great album, but it wasn’t a studio album per se. “Sweet Pain” and “Great Expectations” ruined Destroyer for me. I think “Love Gun” was better than “Destroyer” but in my opinion there’s not one bad song on RARO and it’s recorded better except the drums sounded weak. If RARO was recorded like “Dressed to Kill” that would be the ultimate album.
