This is a terrific series! I am now retired and I am a new learner -at age 61 - and the instructions are easy to follow. The added "sheet music" is a great way to also learn how to read music. The presenter is very clear and each lesson is in a small, manageable bite so the experience is not overwhelming.

I've been off clarinet for 30 years (played for 10 years previously) and have lost a lot of mobility in my left hand due to surgery but are considering picking it back up again to see what I can get back. It's either that or go back to saxophone again which I miss playing almost as much. Most of the muscle loss will be just on the left thumb as the base of the thumb joint is partially fused to the socket, but think it might not be too bad considering the "F" key is a pretty stable position that doesn't require dealing any side keys on the clarinet, or the octave key on the sax. At least I hope so... #FingersCrossed. Any suggestions on ways to loosen up that left thumb? I used to have a fantastic range and could easily hold even high notes well over 30 seconds. It will take quite a while to get back to that if at all (these old lungs ain't what they used to be). I still have my Luyben Ligature and insist on top of the line mouthpieces & high quality reeds I cure myself so that should help.

why all tutorials on youtube show f-sharp as only index finger on the upper hole and f for only Thumb on the lower hole? On my clarinet this sound extremely strange and all fingering patterns i find are different from this. I'm trying to teach the clarinet to myself with online lessons/videos and its extremely hard to understand, why they all have a fingering, thats different from mine. Its especially hard, because noone writes, if he is using an a or a b clarinet. Or are there even other kinds in US or UK? I'd appreciate, if someone could tell me, why all fingering shards say "Thumb+Index-Finger+third keay (right hand) = F" and all tutorials say only thumb is f ? for me it's very confusing and I find no explanation :(
