Thank you! Your content is very informative. I've been using this for a year and it works really well. Very helpful esp. whenever I'm having sudden asthma attack due to pollen or dust exposure. Symbicort is both rescuer and anti inflammatory drug which saves me anytime anywhere. The best kind of treatment given to me so far

This video was really helpful! I wish I had did a bit of video research to visually see how to use this inhaler properly. I followed the instructions that came in the box with the inhaler but after watching this video, I now know where I went wrong and that I took 2 x doses more than I was suppose to. For me the lack of feel and taste of the powder is the main issue of this inhaler. Cause how can one tell if a dose has been taken and the inhaler isn't- for instance broken... :/

I understand this can be an issue, however if you are using it correctly and feeling the effect/controlling your condition then it shouldn't be a problem . But I can see why you may have some trust issues regarding its use. Do discuss this with your doctor if it is really concerning you

true. this is my first time to take the inhaler and i managed to take 4 doses because i thought it was a flop due to no taste and the number counter did not budge. beginners can easily overdose because of this problem.

Yes, I agree. The explanation about the dose counter window was good. The indicator on mine when I first opened it up had only white notches so I didn't know if the dose was dispensing correctly. I haven't used it enough for the number increments to show in the window yet. This video explains it better than my neighborhood pharmacist.

Great instructional video!! Just a quick question, what happens if after you inhale your dose accidentaly turn it clockwise? do you leave it like this and just turn it counterclockwise when you use it after 12 hours?

From what I've I read it can only ever load and hold a single dose, and that will remain loaded until used. You cannot double up in one go. It will only ever allow you to inhail 1 dose no matter how many times you twist it.

YESSS !!! This is the video I needed. At first I wasn't sure if I was following instructions right. Now this reinforces that I am finally 1/2 way through doing it correctly. Thank You. Mines is for Sarcoidosis and I inhale 2 times in morning and 2 times at night - about 12 hours apart. This is on top of Steroids and Anti-biotics - which due to relieving the pain and hours of coughing at times means the steroid has been adjusted to a lower dose now. And now I know why I sound like Barry White now.

In the case of Symbicort, it's quite confusing. There are apparently two types of inhalers they offer. One is a dry powder inhaler called the turbuhaler, which Dr. Stefan is demonstrating in his videos. The other is a metered-dose inhaler, called a rapihaler. They both offer the same combination of drugs in the same amounts, but the rapihaler is dispensed with a gas called hydrofluoroalkane. The user breathes in this not-so-benign-sounding gas along with the drugs. Apparently, the turbuhaler is not offered in the U.S.

I know this is an old video but just in case you still look. I'm curious about something. I had a pulmonary embolism and they informed me I had copd at the hospital. My family doctor had prescribed ventolin and one puff morning and night of simbicort as I was waiting to see a specialist to find out what I had, I wasn't feeling great, very tired when I had the pulmonary embolism and called an ambulance, I was getting worse every day. At the hospital they increased the simbicort to twice morning and night so 4 puffs a day I also had respimat and blood thinners of course and gave me a spacer to use with the ventolin. When I finally saw the specialist months later, she increased it to 4 puffs twice a day so 8 puffs a day and respimat and my hair started falling out a lot. She switched me to Trelegy and my hair stopped falling out. She tells me its impossible that it was the simbicort but I find it odd indeed that as soon as I stopped simbicort 8 puffs my hair stopped falling out. So was it the simbicort? I also read pulmonary embolisms can give you shortness of breath for months or even years so with a family history of asthma (father & brother) how do I know whether my extreme shortness of breath upon exertion but not at rest is copd, asthma, embolism, or a combination that might have a chance of improving? I get a ten minute appointment with the specialist and she says she doesn't have time to answer questions so I don't know where to ask. Thank you in advance and I'm learning more from your videos than from my specialist.

you first rotated it anti-clockwise and then clockwise here and we heard the click sound at the end but the instruction leaflet present inside the box says 'it does not matter which way you turn first', so does it matter or not? can click sound be heard first or it should be heard at the end of the cycle?

But because I'm new to all this, I have a couple questions. 1. What if you click twice but inhale once? 2. Does it matter if you inhale on the non-click side? Or do you need to inhale on the click side?

If you click twice, you inhale two doses. I don't think it matters which side you inhale from, as long as there was a click to release that powder.

I use an aerochamber/spacer. I would recommend the use of an aerochamber/spacer.

I used the spacer when using my old type inhalers, blue and brown inhaler With this inhaler Symbicort, I was told don't use the spacer, as this inhaler is a powder not an aerosol and you get correct dose by just using the inhaler without the spacer Not sure how accurate this information is
