Thank you again for this. Your daily lessons are helping me break my morning iPad video game habit by giving me something appealing to do instead. Once I’m up and moving, it’s easy to resist sitting back down.

Dave for the move you call “brush knee” it’s decided if it’s left/right currently by the hand doing the primary movement. Ok but I believe the left/rightness should come down to the hand which is actually brushing past the knee. Thanks Dave. JeganK

Thanks David that response was very helpful. I also want to express my appreciation for you doing the "mirroring" technique as I don't get as lost when I follow you on screen so the move seems to flow better...it would be great if you could continue that. Thanks

What a great question about where to look. I'm interested in your answer about the Taoist society and their 108 form. I always thought it was based on traditional Yang style but was a little more open or loose if you will. Thank you again for sharing.

Thank you David. I noticed that the hands do not move as much. It's the waist that does most of the movement, giving the optical illusion that the hands are moving more.

Hi david-d, I am from Holland and can follow your English perfectly but sometimes I can 't hear you (lesson 6 and 10) I put my telefone close to my ear but then I cannot see the movements. Can you do something about it? Or have I to do something. My telefone is at the hardest. Thank you and I am enjoying the lessons very much, greetings Joke

I have trouble with the mirroring but when you wear a watch on the left hand it gives reference point and us much easier to follow

Hey Richard what a great pointer. I hadn't thought of that, actually.

Hi David, This is a wonderful series. Thank you so much, you certainly are wonderful. You dealt with the eyes and where to look. So what about neck movements. What happens with the neck and position of the head? Is this a natural flow, or is there a position that is recommended for you neck and head position? Many thanks, Peter. :)

Hi David-Dorian. Love these vids. I have just started an introductory course with the Taoist Tai Chi Society in Denver, learning the 108 form, brought to the US via Canada by Master Moy Lin Shin (i am told). Is this the same as the form you are demonstrating in these vids? So far, it looks to be so.

Hi Anne - well I have to say I have not studied with the Taoist Tai Chi society, although I am well aware of them. Master Moy is held in high regard by the people in his organization. I can say that the form he teaches is not something rare that he brought to the West, it's actually just the traditional Yang Family long form. But - as I always say - the "form" is the least part of what you learn in Tai Chi!

Hello I noticed you finishing by putting your hands in the pray position towards your forehead, but I have a DVD that shows the couple with their hands open as if giving a big hug...then left hand clenched in a fist with the right hand open on top as they switch and bow then repeat with the right hand on top. Is that different because of their style?
@DavidDorianRoss6 жыл бұрын
Hi Corine - actually, the traditional Tai Chi salute is the right fist covered by the left palm, extended slightly toward the other person and a small bow. The palms together gesture that I make is really just a personal habit. Although influenced (a bit) by all the martial and Spiritual teachers I've studied with - mostly it is a gesture of thanks. I am so grateful for every other human being who comes into my life - and thankful for the opportunity to share my Tai Chi. The palm-together gesture is my way never taking those blessings for granted.
