I had a hard time deciding between a burm and a Retic - I went with the Retic and what an attitude ! In my last feed video as soon as the tank opens she strikes at me lol
@drepop8033 жыл бұрын
thats a feeding response. nothing to do with her attitude. i have an 8 year purple tiger retic that i had since he was a baby. after a gash on his neck got infected, i had to give him medicine through his mouth. two syringes for two different types of medicine. once a day for a month. he didnt like it but he never once struck at me. very tame boy. til this day he'll occasionally strike at the glass during feeding time.

My burm never gets fed straight out of the cage. I only feed her after she’s been cruising the house a couple hours till She gets to her spot on the center of our ottoman couch. No feeding aggression at all. She escaped ounce, it was pure panic. But we found her in her spot. She knows if she sits there long enough she’ll get her food

I thought the big female caramel, which is the biggest I've seen yet, was a Hypo. How does one tell the difference. She's so beautiful and very calm. I've seen some really crazy hypos. I've only seen pics of hatchlings of both caramel and hypos. The caramels hatchlings always look darker than the hypos, which is why I'm having trouble distinguishing between the two as adults.

What do males top out at in terms of weight?
@drthik12 жыл бұрын
Main factor is their appetite and how much you want to feed them. They can get just as big or larger than females.

@@drthik1 Absolutley agree its all about feeding regime, but all things being relative, both fed the same, males wont get as big as females, right? @@TheThrill44 OK well if yours is that big at only 16 month old it's been powerfed my boy is a CBB 19 so over 2 years old and no where near that big and like I said the only way that get to be bigger at such a young age is when they have been powerfed which in the long term it shortens their life span.

@davesexoticsburmssuperdwarfsan3 жыл бұрын
@@mirandac2011 the indentation in the spine has nothing to do with the snake being overweight if it is the way to tell if they are overweight is where the body thins out at the tail end the indentation in the spine is what all burms have I have 5 myself 3 adults and 2 juveniles and they all have the indentation where their spine is and their not overweight but just right and the fact you have other snakes doesn't mean anything all snakes are totally different my adults get fed every 4 weeks depending on the size of the prey the bigger it is the longer the time between feeds my 2 juveniles get fed every 10 days on small rats and when they to the next size they will then be fed every 2 weeks and so on.

@@mirandac2011 Only snake discovery claims that. Emily's an....okey source, but you can do better, and she does occasionally get her facts wrong, more often than I'm comfortable with. I watched a video where she said you should use heat mats because heat lamps don't heat up the hides in your snake enclosure. I stuck one of my thermometers inside my corn snake's hide on the warm side, heated via a heat lamp, and it was the exact same temperature as the open space of the enclosure.
