Although I have every Alter Ego pallet they have come out with, I was on the fence of buying this one just because of the color story. After I saw how you applied the shades, I am sold. It looks absolutely stunning. I also loved the foundation you used from L’Oréal along with the blush. Thanks you Jen for your honest reviews.

One thing I will say about Alter Ego - I always like the palette names and packaging that they choose to convey the color story of whatever they are knocking off. Somehow, it's like I give them more credit for that creative spin than I ever would to any other brand that copies so openly and blatantly. Also.... I am getting so tired of the word 'dupe.' I understand the nature of the industry, I understand when a winning concept proliferates through the open market. It's not a bad thing, it's just becoming repetitive and fatiguing. I wish that term could be more reserved for products like this, which are literal, identical duplicates of something. But again - I get it. Not mad at you for talking about dupes!! It's just the way things are right now! Everybody's out there, DUPIN' IT UP!!!!😆

I definitely understand where you're coming from! I wouldn't say all of these are necessarily dupes. The Alter Ego palette...yes but other things like the IT Cosmetics vs. Loreal foundations aren't dupes but are a good affordable alternative. Every time I talk about a high end product, I get at least one comment asking if I can find a dupe for it, so I do these videos because I figure people are looking for them. 🥰🥰

@Impression I don't think many people take the word "dupe" quite as literally as you. I feel most people understand to denote drugstore products that come very close or close enough to a higher priced product of the same category. Sorry if the above sounded harsh, it really wasn't meant to, but I struggled to word it "softer". Personally, I don't care what terminology a Content Creator uses, (dupe, alternative or looky-likey), I'm just happy if the cheaper version performs as well as or as near to its dearer option. 😉😊

We live in an age where I believe the industry expects someone to come along and make the same products for a more reasonable price, and if they can produce it for so much less makes me wonder why they are charging such a high price to begin with. If they charged a more reasonable price they would be less likely to be "duped";)

@@chrissymoss514 It's not that I need it to be literal, it's that it's just becoming so overused..... but, like I said, a lot of people are copying more boldly than ever... I think it has to do with people copying CT's pouf-applicator wands. I've been hearing the word 'dupe' so much, it's starting to induce madness. LOL. I liked a video that Angelica Nyqvist did recently where she also said she's getting tired of the constant 'duping comparisons' and she just likes to find out if a product is good or not, period. Not worrying about what it's duping and just seeing if it's a good product on it's own.

I just got the NYX glitter primer. NYX had a regular primer. I swatched both on my hand and the glitter primer definitely brought out the color better. Haven't tried on my eyes yet. Hopefully I'll like it bc my colors lose their definition. It all just kinda ends up looking about the same? Lid, crease, brow and liner. Ty

Great vid Jen. Before you started your tutorial, I was trying to guess which side is the high end. I actually thought the drugstore side was the high end. I think the Alter Ego eyeshadows look better

The nude glow line actually goes lighter than their usual line so, personally, I think I'll give them one more try. I was super interested by the L'oreal one, but I found it contains denatured alcohol. Which, for me, is a dealbreaker because my skin is sensitive to denatured alcohol.

Sadly, I splurged on the ABH palette just after the holidays and this looks like an amazing dupe! The look you created with it is lovely. ETA: If you are on the fence about this one, get it! I love the color story of this palette so much that it's the only eyeshadow I took with me on vacation this year. It's really versatile.

I know I've told you that in many other comments, but I stand by my claims because its true. The reason I appreciate you doing the tutorials is because I want to see how these products actually perform. "Actions speak louder than words", right? I may not like every look you do in your videos, but I dont like my own either because sometimes I simply just look hideous and so I go and wash it right off. I’m so excited for this Alter Ego palette. I’ve wanted the ABH one so badly due to the color story, but just couldn’t bring myself to pay the price for it because it has seemed to have mixed reviews. But my very first Alter Ego palette was Temptress, their dupe of Sultry, and it was fantastic, so I’m expecting a good experience with this one.

Have you gotten the Alter Ego Coastal palette yet? Jen is so right when she says Alter Ego formula gets better n better each time. I have Shadow Kiss, and I really like it, but the formula seems pretty basic. It’s good, but pretty standard. BUT the Coastal palette is incredibly smooth, soft, and buttery, and blends sooo good. It’s definitely better quality than my older Alter Ego palettes. I hope the Midsummer palette has the same formula as Coastal!

As usual, I guessed the wrong sides (eyes) for the palettes 😅😅. The AE palette is ridiculously good 👍. I'm off to see if the L'Oréal serum foundation and the blushers are available in the UK. When you said guess which one is the duped side , I was a bit surprised because I never thought you have half side of each ...but I was even more surprise when I stopped the video and watched better and having to chose one i prefered your right side , mostly because the shimmers are shinier . Not surprise about cheaper products being better or the same anymore . If you want to spend a fortune is only because you prefer to buy packaging and brands . Thats only my opinion ! 😊❤

I am thrilled that Alter Ego has come out with a Dupe for the ABH palette. I was fortunately able to get the ABH palette around Christmas for half price and I LOVE it. I for some reason have NO fall out. I mean none. But, the colors are absolutely gorgeous. I knew I had to have it when I was at Ulta and saw it in person. The pictures on screen don't do it justice. I have GOT to go check out Alter Ego because I am all about saving money on cosmetics. I love your content so much!

I must say I like the drugstore side better. The L’Oréal foundation looks better then the it cosmetics. I love the essence mascara. I try others but always go back to that one. I haven’t had an issue with it smearing on me.

Jen also something that's super similar to the Mario lip is the wet and wild Rose comforter lip in the shade Taffy daddy it does not have the tingle like the flower one does but the feel is the same and the shade. Not to mention that they are only $5
