Heya :) I was wondering if you ever play a UK Garage with straight 8ths but triplet 16ths ? Or do you think that writing uk garage as swung music would not be accurate for most tracks ?

Yeah, I'd say quite a lot of it has 16th note swing. Often when the overall tempo is faster it's a little more subtle to pick up on, but it's often there I'd say in this style. Remember as well that it's not just straight or swung, you can select degrees of swing, or "%swing" in a DAW.

​@@MikeBarnesDrums Thanks )) I noticed that in most DAW tutorials, they do use the straight grid and then offset the kick or hihats off the straight grid either manually or by the swing functions. Never really saw anyone start out w a triplet grid ~ So I was wondering if to try out writing UKG beats for playing drums from triplets or in straight. At some point as a drummer of course I want to be able to replicate what the producers do in a DAW, a bit more random still keeping the macrotime good, but I still got to play lots till i get there !

@@Svajok Ah I see, no I probably wouldn't start with a triplet grid as such, just simpler to program beats in as straight and then apply swing to them. Cheers.
