Following their performance in the town Square, Huntly & District Pipe Band return along Gordon Street to conclude their 70th anniversary celebrations. The band were led by their Drum Major Derek Dean and joined by guest Drum major Roland Stuart, who both demonstrated their 'flourish' skills with the mace as they marched. Walking in front with the trophy is the 2018 World Junior Highland Dancing champion, Michelle Gordon from Huntly.
Huntly and District Pipe Band is a recreational band based in the market town of Huntly, Scotland. They were formed in 1948 by Gordon Highlanders returning home from service in WWII, and the Gordon tartan is synonymous with the Huntly and District Pipe Band, having been devised by Forsythes of Huntly.
The band is a big part of their local community, sponsored by the famous Shortbread baker Dean's of Huntly. For details of this great band please see their website: www.huntlypipeband.co.uk/

The pipes and drums bring out the best in folk, especially soldiers marching behind their regimental band. I am ex-military and the finest thrill I got in my army days was when marching behind the pipe band. There you felt you could have marched through a brick wall. Your chest expanded with pride. The feeling and excitement brought tears to many a brave mans eyes.

Magnificent staff handling with these 2 guys. Beautiful girl on front took all my other attention. I love pipe sound and marching.

Great drum majoring skills. Havent seen talent like this in a long time, over 40 years since our local Drum major was the DM for the New Zealand band and he used to practise on the bay in Timaru. A beautiful sight to behold, but he was so skilled he never had to miss a beaut catching the mace
