This is their final show with Ozzy in 1978 before they broke up. And it is such a killer one. Their rendition of Snowblind from the same show is badass as well, probably their greatest live performance of it.

Since it's an idiom: it took me decades to understand the meaning of it. Talking stage presence: 3rd of july in the Stadtpark of Hamburg, Germany, I'll be watching Gossip for my 4th time. What I've experienced the last 3 times: coming up stage. No fancy light show. No fog or stuff. Coming up stage and giving everyone a great time. Like some years ago @ the same place: the rain had just stopped. Beth came out first. Singing: here comes the sun!. And it did!

Never Say Die was made under the most difficult circumstances that Black Sabbath had faced with Ozzy. Nevertheless it contains some pretty good songs. I don't think Never Say Die is one of them. My favourite might be Johnny Blade.

Sabbath! La única banda q todo lo hizo por los fans. tenian mil riffs y ritmos para dar y ponía hasta 5 en cada canción, otras bandas los hubieran guaradados para otras canciones. por eso los fanáticos de sabbath somos tan afortunados.
@buzzbomb676 ай бұрын
I think the punk influence is strong with this song … much more straightforward. For a band that is about to implode, within a few months, they appear to be firing on all cylinders here! That last line from Ozzy, hoping theyll be around for another 10yrs… the band would be, but not with John Osbourne. Less than a year later, Ozzy was out, Black Sabbath was already working with Ronnie, and Ozzy would be auditioning for new band members soon. 1978, stage shows were starting to really grow and expand across the stage… more lights, explosive pots, laser shows are on the horizon. But it was still a much simpler time. Now a live show is a monstrously huge production, with all kinds of trusses and rigging.

there's so little live footage of the original band, maybe this, Paris '70, California Jam and the Don Kirshcner TV special, and that's all I can think of. Such a shame for such an important band.

I know, one of their all time best shows is Asbury Park 1975. They were so on top of their game then, they sounded better than the studio recordings. Sucks so much that there’s no video footage of it.

Never Say Die! Is tounge in cheeck. Ozzy sounds positive about the band but he had already left the band once and would be fired within in year. Earth shaking. Ozzy goes on to being one of the biggest acts on the planet and Dio would join Sabbath and enjoy a second life.

Hey, Andrew, I remember emailing you a BS vid, I think maybe their first tv appearance,,,and then the powers that be went and removed it😠. They were playing to a backing track, but still cool to see them early on. Edit: it's on y'tube, paranoid, sabbath's channel. Bill plays like he doesnt know the song, missing fills and beats, as if playing to the record just doesn't jive w him lol

In the mid70's being in jr high, getting into Alice Cooper and Kiss, Sabbath's dark image was scarey to me, and they were for the underground rock scene, or the 'crazy stoner teens'. Then in my late teens, I got into Sabbath, then right off, they broke up. Ozzy's straight off solo deal was much better, the music was updated. The perfect guitarist. And all along Black Sabbath was just a fun rock band- whodathunkit, with heavy aor (album oriented rock music) fm radio playin' Iron Man and Paranoid. There's still lots of Sabbath I haven't heard, and it's always great hearing. And playing their records.🤘🏻

Sabbath were in rough form here. Sure, it's fantastic to watch and enjoy, but Ozzy's voice is shot in places and Tony looks bored towards the end of this particular show. Didn't help that Van Halen were the support band and wiped the floor with the headliners.
