He's, arguably, the best drummer on the planet. Metal, prog, fusion, soul, funk. He does it all. And better than each genre's best. And the average KZbin drummer fans still have zero clue.
@phildupuis10842 ай бұрын
That's the most fun 27 minutes I've had on KZbin in some time. I suspected it before but now I'm convinced --- Gergo is the best drummer alive. Name me another drummer that has the whole package like he has -- pocket, headroom, speed, power, dynamics and most of all drumming musicality. As an older drummer, I have listened to a ton of drummers over the years and he is the first who has actually given me goosebumps while listening to him. Kudos also to the other musicians on these tracks. They are all amazing.

I just had an all day lesson with Simon Phillips and he told the group to make sure to mix up your tom runs and go low to high and not just high to low all the time. It adds color and dynamics to your playing. Plus it sounds cool!

I have loved drums and drumming for over 50 years now. Going right back to my teens it was always the first thing on any song that spoke to me. I've been lucky enough to see some of the greatest drummers live (Phillips, Rich, Cobham, Williams). That said no drummer has ever caught my ear and imagination like Gergo. Your reactions to him are wonderful on a number of levels. Not the least of which is you are exactly the person I'd want to share and listen to Gergo wiith. I was so dumbstruck with his drumming that where you stopped I had to remind myself that all this beautiful music is his too. I agree with everything you had to say and I do share Gergo with others.

Same here...Every time I watch him play there's several points in his playing that I haven't seen or heard before and just go "What??" There's an emptional element in his playing that I find really moving as well.

Gergo is honestly the next 5 levels more capable than everybody else! I still do my 4-5 hours of focused practice daily yet have already accepted that I won't ever be even 1/2 as great as this absolute master. 😂 I shudder to think how many hours he's sat and practiced to be able to play this well; how many people he's jammed with, how many sessions he's had and how much sacrifice he's had to make. How many sticks he's broken! He is simply unbelievable! 🏆⚡

1. I am also intrigued, even when Gergo plays a simple pattern in 4/4, it sounds amazing. 2. Pretty sure I've heard it from a number of pro drummers - advice is, make sure you're as even as possible, that you can play with your left hand whatever you can play with your right and if one is lagging behind, practice it more. You never know whether you need to play a few extra notes (like, you break or lose a stick or whatnot) and always good to have some backup ready from the hand that is less busy. 3. No question he's amazing, just thinking that it's just these world-superclass level drummers of whatever genre that really work hard to always extend their possibilities, practice different genres and styles, study music theory, always look at something they can do better, even in the practice of basic rudiments. And there are always resources to push yourself, be those musical, or, like in the case of Flo Mounier, an extreme metal drummer, he got himself a personal trainer certificate to get to know better how the muscles and human body work in order to optimize, economize and bring to more effective use whatever he can in order to increase endurance, power and speed. I'm not saying that one does need to do that to be an excellent drummer, but there are also no limits to creativity and whatever out-of-the-box tools you choose to use to improve yourself on something that might seem trivial. I'm also suggesting that although technology can't replace what is in your hands, feet, brain, etc. it can also be an effective tool to monitor and work yourself to extreme detail and precision.

Gavin is awesome.. Gergo is so much better. His vocabulary is broader than EVERYONE out there. His control and dynamics are best in class. There may be others as good. But none better. And, even though he looks like a big ol' doughboy, his raw physical ability is as good or better than everyone playing today. (Except people like Eloy of course) When people say there is no 'best' drummer, they are wrong. It's Gergo. And it has been for a long time now.
