This is what it's all about. This is still a very new drummer for me. And a new band for me. I love this. Before making these videos. Before YOUR requests... honestly.. I'd have never listened to this. Now I'm a fan of so many new players/bands. I'm very humbled to receive a lot of messages saying I have introduced them to new music also. Incredible. Thank you all for the support and the great suggestions! PEACE!

Fairly new to your channel, so I’m not sure if you’ve talked about Richard Christy; The Flesh and the Power It Holds by the band Death showcases Christy’s skills. His favorite band happens to be Coheed And Cambria, also. Full circle!

@duttdits Please tell me how Primus was, I beg you. I took my 13 year old daughter because Coheed is her favorite band (thanks to me playing them incessantly), and she didn't want to stay for Primus. I snagged the Les Claypool box set on vinyl a few months ago, and I fell in love all over again. His live cover of Pink Floyd's Animals album is insane. Also, did Puddles Pity Party open at your show? I was legit impressed with his set.
@duttdits
@duttdits 3 ай бұрын
@@imperfectious Primus was freaking incredible. It was definitely a Primus crowd and not a Coheed crowd. Les is freaking godlike on bass. It's easily the most technically impressive bassist I've ever seen live. Played a standard bass, 6 string bass, fretless bass, and standup bass with a violin bow throughout the night. He put on a latex pig mask for the stand up bass. Came out and did an epically long encore too. Too Many Zooz opened for us. They were a Trumpet, Sax, and Percussion band with no singer. The brass instruments did the lyrical melodies. They were actually really impressive. The guy on the sax was insanely talented. I'm jealous you got Puddles! He's so good!

There's actually somewhat of a drummer nerd easter egg in this song. In the main riff (beginning, choruses and ending) Eppard subtly adds these crazy hi hat pedal patterns where he alternates between fourths and eight notes in between the kicks, pausing every other bar. I don't know if he does this live, but I vividly remember my friends and I totally geeking out over it when we first got this record over twenty years ago. I've never really heard anyone do that, neither before nor since, and it adds a layer of complexity (or quirkiness as he might call it) to the song. Fantastic drummer.

Coheed has been my favourite band for the past 12 or so years. Endlessly creative, super deep lyrical universe, incredible playing. They have it all. Almost all of their albums are sci-fi concept albums set in a singular universe, spread over a huge timespan. There are comics, a book and there's a lot of hope for a movie. If you end up with a coheed tattoo, I'll fly up to Auvckland and buy you a beer!

I've been a fan since around '02 when I first heard this album. Josh had left and Chris from Dillinger Escape Plan was drumming then(fantastic as well) but the thing I've always loved and still do about Josh aside from his skill is how much joy and feeling he expresses when he plays. Check out some of their acoustic songs where even with just a shaker/maraca-type instrument he's still just feeling it. Love the video and will forever love Coheed.

It's interesting that you mention technicality vs. musicianship because for the brief time Josh wasn't in the band and Chris Pennie from The Dillinger Escape Plan joined, it was an obvious shift because Pennie's playing was pretty much 100% technical and it drastically changed the bands sound. Not in a bad way necessarily but very noticeably.

Also, Coheed is even better than you might realize right now. They can play ANY genre and do it seamlessly. I have never heard a band with as much range and versatility. They also have GENIUS lyrics and an amazing concept that goes with all the music. I'm telling you, if you are someone that isn't turned off by Claudio's vocals (some are instantly for some reason) and did into their discography you will be amazed. The vocals or vocal style rather is the only thing that keeps some people from not loving them... I have never heard anyone criticize them for any other reason.

I don't know what Ryan means by "trashcan ending" of the track; everything sounds right

A trash can ending is one where there’s a big wrap-up to a high-energy song. The entire band powers out on the last chord, some members wildly riffing on their instruments, everyone playing with lots of energy, the drummer doing rolls on the drums, and so on, until the cut off.

Just wanted to make sure that Andrew got to the true ending of the song.

it's the fake ending, the song takes a decent break and that's where they absolutely crush it in live shows and it leads up to the actual ending

Great band but i never thought that they are have so much big audience!!Thats awesome!!!Also their drummer is very good and tasty but he didn't something extend than his role in the song he leads the song as every drummer must be!

Yeah. Killer track. Studio track would've been a better pick IMO.

Check out "The Amory Wars". It is a comic and novel series written by the Singer Claudio. Each Coheed album is a chapter that accompanies each comic/novel.
