Dirk is one of those rare individuals... dude is a consummate professionals who barely has any perceptible ego and can drop in to do session work for darn near any genre without sounding even remotely out-of-place. One of the most enjoyable drummers I've had the pleasure to see play live.

Dirks version is phenomenal and conveys more emotional feelings than the original. The melancholy tone with the halftime makes the song hit harder. Plus, his attitude and humbleness are clearly genuine. Dude deserves way more recognition!

I’m not that surprised that Dirk never heard of Mr Brightside. They never scored a hit in the Netherlands and I think the same goes for Belgium where Dirk originates from. To be honest I’ve never heard it before until this Drumeo session.

??? They headlined at Rock Werchter!!! In 2009, 2018 and 2022. And that's not some small festival with new and unheared bands. They even were voted number 9 in ''de tijdloze'' (timeless) on Studio Brussel radio. This same radiochannel has the world record of playing the longest session of Mr Brightside in a loop somewhere in 2023 to celebrate the 20y anniversary of the song. So If you say it's not a famous song in Belgium. You must have been living under a rock.

I actually liked Dirk's interpretation a lot more. He took the song from a tongue-in-cheek revenge ballad to something more somber, bitter, and angsty. I would even go as far as to say his interpretation has loads more emotional weight to it.

He is famous for drumming in Soilwork and Megadeth, but his work with Aborted and Scarve is absolutely savage, some of the cleanest and most intense extreme drumming of the 2000's! So happy or him that he made it that far, as he is such a great drummer!!

I got to see Soilwork twice in a year...1st time with Dirk, 2nd time with Bastian. They both were most excellent, and the Dirk era is some of my all time favorite Soilwork tunes. Especially "The Ride Majestic" album, which is in my personal Top Albums All Time list.🤘

As someone who wasnt into listening to drum tracks (though its very important to me for the song to sound good to me) I can tell you Im a huge fan of this specific series on drumeo and Im so blown away how great the guests do. In particular I loved hearing this one and how nice and chill he is. Helps that I am still a big fan of earlier Megadeth. Believe they popped up because I had been listening to some newer megadeth as we were going to see them live. Love seeing jazz or pop musicians play heavy rock/metal even if its not a song I like. Really dont care what genre it is this is truly great entertainment.

@BrokenWingman8 ай бұрын
A lot of songs follow a similar core structure: Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus. The slight variations are, Outro, Intro, Pre-Chorus, Post-Chorus, and sometimes the bridge resolves to the Verse before ending on the chorus. Obviously there are a LOT of exceptions to this. but most modern popular music follows this structure.

Hey I must speak up now... Its a shame that you still have not reacted to Lovebites. You will be blown away of the skill this group posseses . One of the best female powermetal/trash metal drummers in the world in our current time is "Little big engine"Haruna from Lovebites. Haruna is in our current time a 4'9" amazing package.. With groves and fills and pounding double kicks but at the same time she can be just extraordinary melodious. She is as mentioned known for being a very melodious metal drummer. And her cymbal fills and ever pounding double bass is her signature.. A phenomenon... Her technical skill is (as for the whole band) thru the roof... And she is a very good friend with Akane from Bandmaid. What is this bands thing is not just how incredible skilled they all are as musicians. Its also the songwriting. That in my mind at least makes them stand out against for an example DragonForce. At (as a whole band) the same skill level... They also do different styles in different songs. Like hardrock, trash metal, powermetal, and plain metal. They said in an interview that the starting rolemodels for them was the old english and European metal bands. Nowadays they have done their own mixture of everything . Still not a bad song thru all their albums... The live shows are amazing and they are all amazing personalities. Nicknames and real name The Golden Touch - Myiako guitarr Little big engine - Haruna drummer The Shredder - Midori guitarr The Voice - Asami lead Shining Fingers - Fami bass (old bassist was Miho) Suggestion for reactions. (Allways choose the live versions) Nameless Warrior (live 2023) The Hammer of Wrath (live 2023) Shadowmaker (live in Tokyo 2021) The Crusade (live in Tokyo 2021) Just a few. This is an incredible rabbithole if you decide to dig . Sry if my English is bad and this was a bit long comment.... Much love from a long due subscriber. Stockholm Sweden/ Jonny

Dirk is an amazing drummer, which is wild when you consider like...the band that I know him most from, he's probably not even their best drummer? He didn't join Soilwork until like 2005, which was already on their downswing, tbh. He's been the session drummer on The Project Hate's last several albums, tho, and he's killed it.

Look, I know that no one can play everything. But Jojo Mayer MIGHT be able to play everything... ...maybe... ...if anyone can... ...I'm jus sayin... Love what Dirk did with this, listening to the lyrics with what he played it really makes it a more dramatic song instead of that high school party song vibe lol. Dare I say that I even prefer his slightly different chorus, I really dig what he added to it; I think it would match well with the rest of the original playing. I know that it's always easy to say "wow, I can't believe they aren't familiar with that one", but, wow, I can't believe he isn't familiar with that one LOL. It's been played EVERYWHERE, not just at shows and such, but sporting events, in stores, everywhere. If some big name drummer comes on here and says that they aren't familiar with 'Seven Nation Army', that's it, I'm calling shenanigans, that is a bridge that is just too damn far my friends!!!

I don’t think people get how easy it is to not hear stuff. I’d never heard of this song before seeing the Drumeo video. Had never heard of 30 Seconds to Mars either. I just have no interest in main stream commercial music, and I’m not hanging out in bars or wherever this stuff gets played. Most modern rock/metal I listen to is Japanese. Still listen to the ‘80s and ‘90s stuff I grew up on.
