Brilliant reaction/analyses! One of the few drummers who has it all. No matter how complex it gets it always make sense.

OMG Garey. My brain just exploded. Watching this again proved to me what a genius this man is on the drums. Listening again I picked up on so many more subtle nuances to his his artistry. I love how he uses the cowbell as his anchor throughout this solo. Using it for the downbeat and then into the clave etc. Amazing amazing Independence and control. You are so right. It sounded to me like more that one drummer too. Thanks Garey. You totally Rock Man. I love your videos.

I've watched your other drum solo reactions. They were all great. This was something else. The speed and control over every limb and digit and kit was astounding. I knew of him but hadn't seen a solo, just admired his work within bands. That floated through a story, and he kept turning pages. It remained a story, but it was such beautiful transitions. Those camera angles were excellent too, so you could see his masterful playing. I'm just blown away.

Out of this world, seemingly effortless. I've had to play back a couple of times to be sure I heard right. Absolutely amazing and thrilling! With your reactions as the cherry on the pie.

Antonio is becoming my new favorite drummer. He has a huge vocabulary and is just so creative. Gary,I'm loving your reactions. You obviously know your stuff. You are able to pick up and dissect what is being played on the fly. That shows experience. I'm going to play my drums now!

One thing that isn't often mnetioned; is his sheer expression and feeling. His solos are so organic with a clear beginning middle and end like a Cello movement or similar.

The 2/3 Hihat Clave he was doing with the alternating heel Cowbell accents... While still executing chops requires a fucking unreal amount of coordination man that is ridiculous, this man really autonomized each of his limbs..

Garey, I have to give you major kudos👏. You’re probably the ONLY person who does “drum reaction” videos that actually knows what he’s listening to. Everyone else basically just says “woah!!! That’s cool!”....which is totally pointless.

Great video and great analysis as always Teach!...In 2005 I was lucky enough to attend a clinic by Antonio at The Blue Note NYC...Not only was his playing amazing, but he was gracious enough to spend a few minutes talking to me afterward. Just a nice and gifted musician...I've still got the signed Modern Drummer with Antonio on the cover to prove it:)

Hey Garey. I have watched so many solos and playing of this man. His Independence is from another planet. Incredible facility and vocabulary. I put him in with Dafnis Prieto and Claus Hessler in that great Independence class. Very Inspiring. Thanks for this one.

Hi Garey- how about doing Michael Shrieve's amazing Soul Sacrifice solo from Santana's Woodstock gig? Incredible work, especially given he had just turned 20 at the time.

His feet give me a reminder of the Neil Peart solo where he keeps that one ostinato going with his feet (boom chick chick) while being able to change up the time of his hands and the speed all while keeping that ostinato rock steady. But, you’re correct, he probably spent ridiculous amounts of hours practicing and has a latin background, so it’ll be even tougher for guys who mainly have been playing rock or funk etc. Like I’m currently working on gaining more independence and have been, but I must admit that my right bass drum foot still loves to move with my right hand lol

That bent my brain - the level of independence is crazy. The left foot nearly left me drooling in a not good way. Also - how does he play those chops with his right hand in a fist? Crazy good
