Paul used to have a really bad posture playing drums which lead to back problems (LUMBAGO for the RDR2 players sic). He used to play with his knees much higher then his hips and leaned right forward putting lots of stress on his hip flexors and lower back. Over time he has adjusted his hip height and straightened his back out. He also used to angle his toms similar to how Dave Lombardo angles his toms but has flattened them out over time aswell.

finally someone giving props to paul for being the real deal, he doesn't needs to trigger the shit out of his kit to play death metal, I would have chosen a better song for the video though, this one is too frantic, in later releases his playing became more focused I would say.
@drumtechniqueacademy6 жыл бұрын
I chose the timeless classic :-)
@NickSwe6 жыл бұрын
@MarsHolst20 nah, they have songs that are around or over 200 bpm, Evidence In The Furnace comes to my mind at once, fast enough for any modern drummer to trigger the snare and bass drums. And gimme a break, most tech drummers nowadays trigger their kits regardless of the speed they are playing, Pete Sandoval recorded World Downfall without triggers, speed is simply not a valid argument, it just makes playing easier, that's why most use triggers. Anyway, my point was that Paul gets some heat for not being such a flashy drummer but at least he is the real deal.
@murk45526 жыл бұрын
@@NickSwe it enhances sound quality and doesn't make it "easier" when most drummers with an already audiophile ear for overtones and shit like that have to pay extra attention even more with "triggers".

From the look of it, the switch from the corps blast to the hammer blast was not a choice. His left hand was slowing down so he just ran with it because it was easier to maintain. He had a lot of tension all over his body from trying to get power from shear force rather than good technique. He still played it well and people without drum training would never notice. With the genre he is in, most would assume it is just stage presence.
