In this episode of the Drum Technique Podcast I got the chance to interview Kerim Krimh Lechner. Krimh explains his double bass technique in detail, how he sets up his pedals, how he worked on his hand speed, what kind of bass drum triggers he uses, his thoughts on his time as drummer for decapitated, behemoth and septic flesh etc...

I met him in stockholm at a random gig, he was just done recording septicflesh and went to see the bands playing, he is the nicest guy, he had no problems talking about his experience in previous bands and the slipknot covers he did, etc, one of my fave drummers and codex omega was a beast of a record.

I saw Krimh first gig with behemoth in 2013 Getaway Rock festival in Sweden. First time they played anything from the satanist live. If I remember correctly it was "Blow your trumpets Gabriel" Impeccable performance and I could just see he was and still is a total pro. Class act.

The points about rest and time off is huge. As you get older and gain more technique (knowing how to use leverages and rebound to play with less energy) after breaks, you might sit down and feel concerned that you'll have lost fitness, yet many times you'll have a great rehearsal. You end up realizing how fitness had little to do with it and you're abilities had more to do with technique - and that doesnt necessarily get forgotten or 'out of shape' during a time-off.

He said the 419s are thicker than a 2B, but every 2B i've looked up is also .630, except the Vater 2B (which is only 5 thousandths thicker). .25" extra length is the only dimensional difference. Maybe he's talking weight when he says thicker?
