Well done sir, how long did it take you to learn to play like this? Are you self taught? You are good, maybee I quit playing.
@jon3259 ай бұрын
Thanks! I've been playing since I was around 8 years old. Self taught, would just put music on and do my best to figure out how to play what was being played. Ha, definitely don't quit playing, but I know the feeling. I see other drummers at times that make me want to give it up, but we each have our own unique contribution. No two drummers play exactly alike, and that's a good thing! Variety is the spice! Enjoy!

Haha, I just noticed - my Sabian Paragon ride isn't used in this particular video - that's a 20" Zildjian A Custom ride. :)

Hi Jay, really good stuff...great chops, all fluid. I wish I could play like you.....watching you play is really inspiring. You could really work as a pro drummer and make money by playing. BUT anyway......you did all correct, working in a business where you can really earn money and do drumming as a hobby. The music business is dead for my opinion.....hard to earn money, no fun at all since music streaming and KZbin. Your recoding sounds really great, love all the shells including the snare and tasty tuning aswell. Did you use the sub kick? Best wishes Joerg.
@jon32510 ай бұрын
Thanks Joerg. I made a decision long ago between going for drumming professionally or having a family, because I was almost sure I wouldn't be able to do both. Agreed, the music industry is very difficult to make decent money these days. For now I continue to enjoy the hobby and have been enjoying learning how to track and mix acoustic drums. Thanks as always for your input! J

Oh, and yes, sub kick is there. :)

@@jon325 Yes Jay, good decision to get the family. And yes, I think being a professional musician with touring and so on is not very family friendly. Your tracking and mixing skills will improve further anyway, the more you try.

How do you record the Impro? Sound very cool.As we see today drummers dont like New ideas...Brain police ? Just bullshit in my eyes.some cool ideas 😊

Thanks - I pretty much just got the camera rolling, sat down and started playing random stuff. 😀I have done a few similar videos on my ekit, and often see requests to do more, so thought I'd do one on my acoustic kit. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Maybe you meant what do I use to record? I’m using a combo of Shure, PreSonus and Audix mics, with a D-Sub kick mic. I feed those all into my Zoom L-20 interface/mixer, where I multi-track record straight to SD card. I then take those multi-tracks into Reaper and mix and master it there, then sync that to my video and upload. Of course the wonderful Sonor SQ1 birch drums and Zildjian A Customs certainly help the sound! Enjoy!
