Love your videos & have learned a lot getting back into drumming after a 15+ years of not playing, but played 20 years prior to that so I’m getting a lot of the rust knocked off going back to basics. I do have a question as you do a lot of “church drummer” videos. Of which I will be at my church once they get the ok to purchase an ekit, unfortunately they won’t let acoustic set up again and won’t get the efnote pro, so probably the strata prime at $3.5k. Anyhow, just wondering if you’re also a Christ follower or just doing these for your side hustle? Actually curious to know. Appreciate your content! Soli Deo Gloria~

9:09 If your goal as a church drummer is to “stand out”, I think a rethink and heart check are in order. Of course we want to do our part with excellence and creative expression is part of that, but if we’re trying to draw some sort of attention to ourselves, we’ve lost the plot.

If I’m unison on the 4 with the hi-hat and the snare, and natural alternating has the (e) with the left, does that mean the snare on the 4 should be with the right or the left?

Although Gabe is on his way to being one of the most notable metal drummers of all time I do appreciate that he still acknowledges the churchy side of music, especially since most metal contradicts Christian values(to be clear I’m a Christian and I love metal) so it’s always nice to see both sides of it, I appreciate you Gabe🙌🏻

Can you all pray for God to open my church's eyes and let me bring real drums in? 😆 im actually being kind of serious. I've been on an electric kit with rubber pads there for years.. it's not fun, but I do love it here so I accept it and deal with it. I still keep pushing them to try it. We're in a small room, but I even offered to build a completely enclosed drum cage.
