Holy Crap! It was actually 5 years ago this month that I bought my 14x6.5 Ludwig LM402 hand-hammered with tube lugs FROM BARRETT! It was between this drum, a Tama Stewart Copeland signature snare, and 1 other one that I don't remember. I bought the one I don't remember, drove to where I was staying (about an hour away), and tried it out for a day or 2. I was feeling some remorse, so I drove back to the store. Barrett let me exchange it (I paid the difference in price, of course) for the LM402. It's been my number 1 snare ever since. I'd like to think I somehow influenced your pick for this video. I'm sure you don't remember someone who traveled from Ohio with his wife to buy a snare 5 years ago, but subliminally, I know it's my love for the snare you're feeling. ... Probably the other way around that you influenced my purchase. Anyway, thank you, Barrett!

I remeber visiting Ron Dunnett in Delta, BC to replace some hoops on my George Way walnut snare. I asked him what he had been up to and he shows me the fiberglass shell for the Milestone brand. I was skeptical of its durabilty and without hesitation Ron pulls out a 5B and starts profusely beating the Sh*t out of it, hands me the shell without any noticeable damage and asks me what I thought about it now? Ill never forget that moment 😂

Nate wins my vote with the Canopus ‘the hammered’ bronze snare. Nicely done, bro! In a close second, Tony with the Joyful Noise snare. 🤘🏽I’m highly impressed with that beautiful creation. In third, Tom (as James) playing the Milestone Reserve snare. The N&C Horizon kit sounds great however, I wasn’t as big a fan of the walnut snare. Interestingly, I own one of them as well. At a price tag of $1200 Canadian, I would suggest other options over it.

And Yes folks the Award goes to Tony for very smoothly sliding in one of the highest priced drums! That aside, Joyful Noise is a prize drum to own and that drum is a beauty. I will have to wait for hitting the lottery though. Jeremy: Talk to us another time about tuning the N&C and Canopus Snare drums. I love both and I owned a N&C Solid Shell Cherry decades ago, but that tuning is 'the dagger' for me not to buy another single lug drum.I eventually had to drill out the tension rod holes on the die cast hoops. I know that's sacrilege, but the tension rods will not align without doing top and bottom head tuning together. That's a deal breaker for my patience level.
