+dimetilldeath Mmmmm... well, there are two overhead mics on top, and also there is one mic under every timbal (inside the drum, pointing the drumhead). That's a propper miking for a timbales set... you can see cleary the mic's stands.

That's traditional teaching. No theory, just listen till you can play it. Not effective on most of us. Actually, quite a torture. I use a sentence with the kids, they memorize the basic cascara easily. It's often the farest they go. You have to live with cuban music to play it, and they live with ACDC.

I woulndt call this a lesson. es una demonstracion...A beginner would get lost with the piano montuno and everything else going on. Not easy to isolate the cascara for an untrained ear. Teaching cascara should entail a history of the rhythm, notation, playing it slowly, and the maybe at the end, a demonstration of its use in the percussion section. Beautiful rhythms from masters but poor instruction.
