'Serve the song' is the really the biggest thing that all of Band-Maid songs. Kanami (guitarist) is the main composer, but with a lot of collaboration esp with Akane and Misa. They record their down demos over the original demo of the song. So everyone knows what everyone needs to do in every song, because it was written that way. Great analysis. As a pension aged old drummer boi 😁 I owe my return to drumming directly at the hands and feet of Akane Hirose, I'd become incredibly jaded with music and the industry behind it until I tumbled onto B-M who absolutely reignited my rock and roll pilot light and yes Akane is incredibly technically proficient, serves the song, has power, grace and subtlety but she reminded me of the number 1 thing about playing drums - it's fcking great fun 😁 love that woman love this band, thanks 🙏👍🥁🍻

Great reaction and Akane is always doing exactly what the song needs. In a recent interview she said that she's concentrating on supporting the singer and she said that she has been learning about using subtraction for her patterns. Thanks for the reaction.

I would try Manners+ Black Hole live from 2021 (no audiance COVID). Manners great grove Black Hole is leathal. Just got into this band last year, I am 69 this year they are so refreshing, they have got me back into this stuff which i gave up on in the late 70s🤘

Akane Hirose...(Ah-kah-nee) or (Ah-kah-nay) (He-row-see).... Japanese pronounce most all vowels, not structured like English. I too am a drummer, former, and Akane is one of my favorite Rock drummers of all time......and I go back to the 60's.

"Warning" by Band Maid is a drummers song IMHO. Her punk beats are top notch. "Start Over" is totally different in that she basically holds down the beat throughout but it's just as good as she always does. If you want to check out a new band with a killer drummer Otoboke Beaver is great. "I checked your cellphone". Probably 80 pounds of balled lightning sittin' on the drum throne.

There are many of us who feel that the Ladies of Band-Maid are the inheritors of the Prog-Rock mantle of RUSH. They combine multiple genre's into a melding that we have come to call the Band-Maid Genre. 98% of their music you can tell is them in the first 10 seconds. The playing and the tone of the instruments, then once Saiki and Miku start to sing and it's confirmed.

Hi Mike, I hope some day you react to Missioned Souls. Ice their drummer age 10 is a prodigy. His 3 sisters ages 12/14/15 r incredible guitarist and bass players. They do a cover of bestie by Band Maid that is amazing. ( and many other rock covers) If u have the time and the interest. Cheers PS- they’re opening for Steelheart and White Lion next month in Cebu Philippines. They r the real deal for a young rock band

Sounds like a harmonizer. A trick I use a ton in my mixing. The other stuff is all live vocals. I could be wrong.
